Salem's Lot review
Advantages: Scary, well written Disadvantages: A bit slow at times
Salem's Lot is a horror film and also extended to become a miniseries. It's adapted from the short story by Stephen King and is directed by Tobe Hooper, who horror fans may know also directed "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre" and "Poltergeist".
Ben Mears (David Soul) is an author who is returning to his old home, Salem's Lot, to write a book about the town's supposed hanunted house, Marsten House. He is quickly seen as suspicious and is kept an eye ... ...new face in Salem's Lot, an antiques dealer by the name of Straker (James Mason) whose Boss, Mr. Barlow, no-one has ever seen. Soon after Ben's arrival people start to go missing and dying from mysterious causes, and everyone is baffled as to what is going on. Meanwhile, Ben meets a school teacher, Susan (Bonnie Bedelia), and they fall for each other. Her father is also a doctor at the local hospital so he can keep up with the sinister goings on. ...

Solitude
Advantages: Quirky; a bit different Disadvantages: Obviously made on a budget
...of the title refers to Sonata 14, a piano piece by Beethoven that Megan is playing at the beginning of the film. This is then repeated at points throughout the film, and helped add to the overall creepiness of the atmosphere, and suits the grandeur of the house in which Megan and her mother live. There is a rating of 15 for this film. I think this is probably unnecessary. There are very few moments of gore, and they are generally flashing images ... ...anything too bloody. I think the reason for the rating is probably because we see Megan masturbating in the bath at one point - she is covered with milky water so the viewer can't see anything at all except for her face, but I suppose it is not suitable for young teens. I think that anyone who watches this film expecting a supernatural thriller or horror is going to be disappointed. I am not sure why it has been marketed in this way, but it doesn't ...

It's You That's Been Stealing Those Limbs!
Advantages: Quite creepy in a sleazy way, and tries its best to be bang up-to-date. Disadvantages: It's a film about an angry head on a table, and that's it.
...managed to produce one of the more compelling, spine-chilling and scientifically cautionary masterworks of the decade. No, only joking. This is obviously just another fairly tedious and unspectacular R-rated sci-fi horror putting a contemporary spin on the Frankingstein plot, this time benefitting from the breakthroughs in plastic surgery, organ transplants and test tube babies that were hot topics in 1959. It's just a shame the film was delayed ... ...one real niche.
The Frankingstein in this case is ambitious, smooth-talking young scientist Dr. Bill Cortner, played rather woodenly by Jason Evers, whose highly experimental and unorthodox treatments are gaining him some notoriety at the hospital where he works with his traditionalist father and devoted fiancée Jan (Virginia Leith). Bill finally decides to show Jan his nefarious experiments at his laboratory up at the isolated country house, but ...

Watch watchers
Advantages: still a good story Disadvantages: unfaithful to the book
This film is loosely based on the book by Dean Koontz. I do mean loosely aswell. Travis Cornell as changed from an EX-DELTA force soldier to a ten year old boy. Travis's mum is the romanic lead in the book. These are little niggles but the film is still good.
The story is about a goverment experiment that has gone wrong. It starts off with an explosion at a factory. Two animals escape, one has been bred for intelligence and the other for pure brute ... ...intelligent dog. However on their tale is a psycho federal agent (Michale Ironside) LEM JOHNSON and the viscous animal is never far behind leaving a path of destruction and whenever the animal kills it takes the eyes of its victims. Not faithful to the book, and Dean Koontz felt his book had been murdered. Still a good film, and will make you jump. The effects could have been better but it was a low-budget film, still pleasantly enjoyable. There ...

Death Note Movie Version (DVD)
Advantages: totally worth to collect Disadvantages: if you not a DN fan or movie freak, then you will not really interested in it
Death Note (デスノート, Desu NÅto?) is a series of two live-action Japanese films released in 2006 and based on the Death Note manga and anime series by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata. The films primarily center on a university student who decides to rid the world of evil with the help of a supernatural notebook that kills anyone whose name is written in it. The two films were directed by ShÅ«suke Kaneko, produced by Nippon Television, and distributed ... ...as the "Death Note". The Death Note's instructions claim that if a person's name is written within it while picturing that person's face, that person shall die. Light is initially skeptical of the notebook's authenticity, but after experimenting with it, he realizes that the Death Note is real. Soon he is visited by the Note's original owner, a shinigami named Ryuk. After that meeting, Light seeks to become "the God of the New World" by passing his ...
