Kill Me. Now.

Advantages: It finally ends.
Disadvantages: It started in the first place.

...The picture quality is dreadful. Blood Reaper is filmed entirely using digital video - and it shows. At times, the picture is blurred and out of focus. From start to finish, the colour is drained from everything leaving a washed out, peaky looking finished product that is reminiscent of a pirate video that has been recorded, re-recorded and re-recorded again. Was I watching this film from new, or had somebody simply lent the shop a pirate copy? The ...
...that you can see. The blood levels are incredibly over the top, with stabbing victims fairly squishing around as the enormous knife perforates equally enormous bags of red water shoved under their T-shirts. Sheesh!  It's utterly predictable. When female victims run away and then stand peering from behind a car or the bushes, you know damn well he's going to come up behind them. That "creepy" policeman and nutty old camper are so obviously ...

Bore Six

Advantages: Some tension synonomous with the Saw franchise, chilling music
Disadvantages: Lack of plot/ideas, very slow and tedious

...have number 6 in the Saw franchise, this has split public opinion much like John and Edward on X Factor recently, some like the films, some hate them. I too have mixed opinions on the Saw films as I loved the first four yet the fifth and sixth instalments in the series don’t match up to the ingenuity, the nail biting tension or the sheer carnage which we witness behind our hands in the first four. Since 2004 there has been a Saw film released every ...
...I personally feel like 3 Saw films would have been adequate however Saw 4 brought in another dimension to the films which seemed to relight the series and in a way was the first in another trilogy of Saw films. Bringing in a back-story for Jigsaw has become the basis of the most recent three films. Saw 4 did well in establishing the reasons behind Jigsaw’s psychopathic ways but I feel that was enough as Saw 5 brought nothing new to proceedings that ...

Let's Hear It For Campy British Horror - YAY!

Advantages: Great cast, entertaining, mix of genres
Disadvantages: Not to everyone's taste

The House That Dripped Blood is a camp horror film, which lasts 97 mins and is rated a 12. I bought it from Amazon UK for just £3.98, which I felt was a great price. I have recently got into watching horror – but only the old, classic era ones from the 1970s or earlier, definitely not the modern gore-fests. To me, I like a good cast, traditional horror elements and a fair bit of suspense. I am not interested in huge amounts of blood and on-screen ...
...instead loving the old Vincent Price films and the like. I first heard of The House That Dripped Blood after reading a review of it on Dooyoo by Jake Speed and it sounded just my kind of thing. I was not disappointed. Despite its horrific cover, the film itself is not nearly so frightening. Filmed at Shepperton Studios, it has a stellar mainly-British cast (Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, Jon Pertwee, Ingrid Pitt, Denholm Elliot, Joss Ackland, ...

New Moon - New Chapter - New Highs?

Advantages: Sombre Atmosphere, some captivating moments
Disadvantages: Too long, lack of substantial plot

...relatively disappointed by the first Twilight film I vowed I wouldn’t be watching this however when we were late to watch another movie at the cinema this was just about to begin and I was out voted so I ended up enduring another 130 minutes of a film I wasn’t particularly interested in in the first place. This coupled with the fact that I really don’t see what all the fuss is about surrounding Robert Pattison and Taylor Lautner (although he does ...
...the next chapter in the Twilight saga. To my surprise though I found myself enjoying the film early on, it’s not a film where an awful lot happens and the storyline leaves much to be desired but the film echoes the atmosphere of the first film with the sombre ambience where Edward and Bella’s relationship shines. This film does take more of a melancholy mood whereas the previous film had opportunities for light-heartedness, with the break-up of Bella ...

What?...I'm Not The Right Kind Of Monster For You?

Advantages: Much Better Than The First Film, Great Acting, Wolf CGI
Disadvantages: Tries To Make Up For Twilight's Shortcomings

...has been released in the twilight series, following on from twilight, which was released last December. These films are based on the 4 books of the same names, written by Stephanie Meyer. New Moon is directed by Chris Weitz, who has previously done films including "About a Boy" and "The Golden Compass" Rated 12a Story ------- In New Moon we re-join main characters Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and Edward Cullen (Rob Pattinson) who, as human and vampire, ...
...first film, in the small and rainy town of Forks. Bella's 18th birthday has arrived and with that number making her technically one year older than Edward, she is troubled by thoughts of old age and the worry that Edward will not want her when she "looks like a grandmother" An incident at the Cullen house involving a paper cut later cements in Edwards mind that he will always be putting Bella in danger as long as he and his vampire family are in ...
