Everyone, we're coming to get you!!!!!

Advantages: Well written, emphasis, FX
Disadvantages: Nothing really

A year ago, to coincide with Halloween, the clever guys over at Channel 4 decided that, in order to help push the upcoming series of Celebrity Big Brother, they would release this 5 part series, giving us a drama featuring the reality TV show, but with a zombie twist. The story starts as the BB house is on the verge of an eviction night. While Davina McCall is announcing the evictee, unbeknownst to everyone, the production area of the house is overrun ...
...of zombies, and now we're all at risk. What we get right from the off is a slight sense of reality, angling the show from a voyeur point of view, showing the runs around the house, the production studio, Davina off screen, all the things you don't normally see on the show. When the zombies first start coming on, I expected for some reason to see some form of comedy. However, what we got wasn't this at all, and as the body count starts to mount, ...

Trailer park of Terror - Worst excuse for a 'Zombie' film ever...

Advantages: Hick Accents, Soundtrack
Disadvantages: Weak, loose storyline, Lack of zombies and gore

...looking for revenge on her Trailer Park neighbours for killing her boyfriendafter meeting a weird guy on a bike. I kept having to go over the loose storyline in my head until the plot made sense, and as soon as I thought i knew what was going on, the story went on to focus on some apparent addicts on a detox road trip. It looked promising when they turned up at the trailer park, and the killer lady greets them and takes them in. When it becomes apparent ...
...(rather predictable), we were even more excited - after a slow start, we wanted gore! And Zombies! But these were not proper zombies - I like my zombies either slow and lurching, with guts hanging out (the more traditional zombie), or fast, infected, crazed zombies (28 days latter style). Either way, I expect them to have a hunger for brains. The 'Zombies' in this movie were rubbish. They could talk just like they could before (I mean, what kind ...

The £45 Borefest

Advantages: That someone can make a cheap movie
Disadvantages: Pretty much every aspect.

...low budget horror movie. Colin looks at a zombie invasion from the point of view of a zombie, as the movie opens Colin has just been bitten and returning to the sanctuary of his home, is then attacked by his roommate Damien. Slowly Colin changes from fully functioning human being to shuffling zombie alone in his house. From there on Colin ventures out of the comfort of his four walls and heads out onto the street in search of something. Colin is ...
...heart, circling the character of Colin from human to zombie, to victim of the human race as he is repeatedly attacked, and miraculously manages to survive a series of assaults by the zombie hating (and understandably so) human race. Director Price has had an incredibly good year off the back of his project; his movie has screened at Cannes, Frightfest, and now enjoys selected cinema and consecutive DVD release (in the UK). The reviews of Price’s ...

Bore Six

Advantages: Some tension synonomous with the Saw franchise, chilling music
Disadvantages: Lack of plot/ideas, very slow and tedious

...have number 6 in the Saw franchise, this has split public opinion much like John and Edward on X Factor recently, some like the films, some hate them. I too have mixed opinions on the Saw films as I loved the first four yet the fifth and sixth instalments in the series don’t match up to the ingenuity, the nail biting tension or the sheer carnage which we witness behind our hands in the first four. Since 2004 there has been a Saw film released every ...
...I personally feel like 3 Saw films would have been adequate however Saw 4 brought in another dimension to the films which seemed to relight the series and in a way was the first in another trilogy of Saw films. Bringing in a back-story for Jigsaw has become the basis of the most recent three films. Saw 4 did well in establishing the reasons behind Jigsaw’s psychopathic ways but I feel that was enough as Saw 5 brought nothing new to proceedings that ...

Let's Hear It For Campy British Horror - YAY!

Advantages: Great cast, entertaining, mix of genres
Disadvantages: Not to everyone's taste

The House That Dripped Blood is a camp horror film, which lasts 97 mins and is rated a 12. I bought it from Amazon UK for just £3.98, which I felt was a great price. I have recently got into watching horror – but only the old, classic era ones from the 1970s or earlier, definitely not the modern gore-fests. To me, I like a good cast, traditional horror elements and a fair bit of suspense. I am not interested in huge amounts of blood and on-screen ...
...instead loving the old Vincent Price films and the like. I first heard of The House That Dripped Blood after reading a review of it on Dooyoo by Jake Speed and it sounded just my kind of thing. I was not disappointed. Despite its horrific cover, the film itself is not nearly so frightening. Filmed at Shepperton Studios, it has a stellar mainly-British cast (Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, Jon Pertwee, Ingrid Pitt, Denholm Elliot, Joss Ackland, ...
