Deep Rising review
Advantages: Exciting, good cast Disadvantages: May be too gory for some people
Deep Rising is an action/horror film directed by Stephen Sommers, who would later go on to direct "The Mummy" and "Van Helsing". It stars B-movie legend Treat Williams and Famke Janssen and Djimon Hounsou, who are both a lot more well known now.
Finnegan (Williams) is the leader of a group of mercenaries who takes on some very dangerous clients. Their plan is to get on board the world's most expensive cruise ship and steal as much as they can. But, ... ...dead and that someone, or something, has trashed the ship. So Finnegan, along with his friends, his clients, and Trillian (Janssen), a con artist and thief who luckily knows a thing or two about automatic weapons, wage war against the creature, and try to kill it before it kills them!
There are so many B-movies out there that are just plain bad, bad acting, bad sets, bad effects, they really are no fun to watch at all. But this is completely opposite ...

There's a sting in this tale!
Advantages: Exciting, action-packed Disadvantages: Bit too much for one film, flaws/holes in the plot
...as I had recently seen the third and first of the films, decided it was best to review them in order! Firstly a piece of advice, although I will try my absolute best not to plonk in any big spoilers here (with regard to the first film - this will be hard) I think it is best not to see this review until you've watched the first film. It should make sense, but it's always better to do things in sequence! I really enjoyed the first film, and so when ... ...- if you've not seen the first film, read this bit** Evelyn Carnahan (Rachel Weisz), the clumsy librarian and her brother, Jonathan found an unusual, star shaped item inside a tomb, decided to investigate and went on an exploring journey. On their way, they met Rick O'Connell (Brendan Fraser), a prisoner, who agreed to help in return for his freedom. But there were other Americans on a treasure hunt and between the two gangs they managed to awaken ...

Adventure is reborn!!
Advantages: You don't need to have seen the first one to watch this. Disadvantages: Is there any???
...Many compare this sequel to the first movie The Mummy, however, you do not need to do this, the film can definately be watched without having seeing the first one, but I reccommend watching it so you might aswell see it first. If you have not seen the first one, basically a librarian named Evie is particularly interested in the Egyptian history and when her brother Johnathon finds an interesting key she can not help but work out what it is used for. ... ...a humerous adventure to unleash the evil Imhotep who was mummified alive for murdering the Pharoah. Evie her brother and Rick unleash a deadly curse that many have feared for years. In the second one the corpse of Imhotep is resurrected in a British museum as it is the year of the Scorpion and the Scorpion Kings bracelet has been found by Rick and Evie (who are now married). Unfortunately their son puts on the bracelet which leads them to the Scorpion ...

Gothic Meets Pepsi max
Advantages: Imaginative, Gothic, Enjoyable Disadvantages: Stupid, Badly Constructed with CGI Overload
...to kill…. Van Helsing is part of a secret underground operation headed by the Catholic Church; he is sworn to hunt and kill the forces of evil throughout the world and hide their existence. His latest mission sends him into Transylvania in search of a young vampire slayer, Anna. Many generations of her family have been killed by the infamous Count Dracula and now that her brother has been slowly turning into a were-wolf, she has to kill the dark ... ...I had convinced myself that Van Helsing would be the best action movie of all time. So, I was there on opening night; drenched with rain and stuck in the throng of eager movies goers, was it worth it? Not particularly. To be fair Van Helsing isn't essentially a bad film, it's swift and efficient with enough of a wow factor to keep most film goers more than happy. I just didn't feel it had any conviction; it doesn't have the courage to stand up and ...

A Waste of 2 Hours 6 Minutes
Advantages: Hugh Jackman is convincing as Van Helsing Disadvantages: Kate Beckinsale is useless, weak plot
...or 'it was fantastic', but Van Helsing actually prompted unusually strong negative feelings from me. Legendary monster hunter Van Helsing, is sent to Transylvania, along with the obligatory bumbling sidekick, to defeat the infamous and powerful vampire, Count Dracula. Once there he is joined by a Gypsy princess who is the last living member of her family, and wants to defeat Dracula in order to lift her family's ancient curse. Van Helsing is played ... ...made and the legend of Van Helsing, and a blooper reel. There's also a feature that allows you to explore Dracula's castle, which basically means you click on bits of the scenery and it tells you about it, and a feature called 'You are in the movie', which sounds like it could be interesting, but it's just where they've stuck mini hidden cameras around the set and on the main cameras to give you a different vantage point on the filming, which is ...
