ISLAND OF TERROR, BRILLIANT!!
Advantages: Great Value, good story and good actors Disadvantages: None
...centre based on a remote Island off the coast of ireland, is trying to find a cure for cancer and is experimenting with radiation and effects on human tissue. The Island is a small one with no means of communication except a ferry that comes once a week. Populated mainly by farmers and a local Doctor and Police Officer and a pub.
Whilst on patrol the local Police Officer finds a man dead in a cave and discovers that the body has no bones in it. ... ...(JUDD) to come to the Island and investigate. As more victims are discovered they discover that a new creature called a 'Silicate' has been created by the cancer research facility and is multiplying. I won't spoil the film and tell you what happens at the end, but we win or do we?
The plot is great, the suspense is very good and it has an air of a good quality science fiction film. The Special effects are good and the performance by the actors is ...

A FILM ABOUT A BAD HALLOWEEN COSTUME?
Advantages: Good acting Disadvantages: Everything else
This early (1958) science fiction film, is an entertaining little number. It is certainly not the best sci-fi movie I have seen but it does have something about it. The special effects are not great, it is Black & White and the story isn't brilliant either, having said that there is a surprising performance by Warren Mitchell (Alf Garnett to some of you) who plays a straight laced Professor. The acting in this film is not bad either, and once you ... ...was not as good as they are today then the film isn't that bad compared to the standards of the day. Directed by Quentin Lawrence (The Invisible Man Series).
The Story....
High in the Alps is a creature from Outer Space (well it has to be really) who decapitates it's victims whilst shrouded by a mysterious radioactive fog. In a research centre on top of a Mountain is Professor Crevett, and his team. They notice this mysterious fog and immediately ...

Tales From The Darkside
Advantages: Great fun Disadvantages: Variable acting perhaps
...series from the world famous Hammer studios made in conjunction with the Fox network in the United states. I'm reviewing 'Volume 2' here which includes seven of the thirteen episodes produced in all. The series turned out to be (unless it rises from the grave again one day!) Hammer's last hurrah and its relative failure sent the studio into mothballs. Thirteen 75 minute thrillers were produced with the notion that ITV and Fox could run them as prestigous ... ...and Jan Francis. Hammer House of Mystery and Suspense: Volume 2 contains seven episodes: "LAST VIDEO AND TESTAMENT" The ageing businessman Victor Frankham (David Langton) is the head of the international electronics coporation FE. Following his death in New York, his young widow Selena (Deborah Raffin) hopes for a new life and start with her lover Derek (Oliver Tobias). But Victor has left a videotape that gives Selena much cause for concern... A ...

Kill A Zombie With A Frying Pan?...No Problems
Advantages: Good "Zom-Com" Disadvantages: May Be Too Gory For Some
I have always been a huge fan of zombie films and who doesn't love a good comedy? So with little expectations of cinematic genius and more hope for a lighthearted giggle, I headed to the cinema to see Zombieland. Based in a world where mad cow disease has mutated and effected the mass populous, zombies are running wild in the USA and there are few who have managed to escape being infected or eaten alive. "Columbus" is one of the lucky few, with his ... ...he isn't turned into one of the undead. He is joined by Tallahassee, Wichita and Little Rock along the way and the story follows the 4 as they try to survive and head for a theme park for a bit of normality during a zombie apocalypse...as you obviously would! "Tallahassee" played by Woody Harrelson is the tough guy who is the perfect balance to Jesse Eisenberg's character "Columbus" who is geeky and basically a little bit of a nerd. Emma Stone plays ...

Second installment of Twilight Saga
Advantages: Good special effects Disadvantages: Not good for team Edward fans
I've been waiting for this for quite sometime and I am glad it's finally here. I just went to see it and I have to say it is more or less meets what I was expecting. In this second installment, they have really stepped up with the game, with better costumes and special effects. The werewolves are great to watch. Having read the books, I think Chris has followed very closely to it and make some good changes to some of the less major scenes, while ... ...the cup of tea for team Edward fans as he only appears for the first and last part of the movie while the majority of the movie is dominated by Jacob(Taylor Launtner). Kristen and Taylor did a good job in bringing the chemistry and the kind of relationship between Jacob and Bella in the book. As in the book, some of their conversations gives me giggle!! Acting wise, I am quite impressed with Taylor. Being only 17, he managed to capture all the emotions ...
