Advantages: Another lost horror classic resurfaces Disadvantages: One of those movies that you wait for but ended up being disappointed with
...eternity Alan Birkinshaw's 1978 movie Killer's Moon has finally made its way onto DVD on the Redemption label. While not a movie that suffered the stigmata of being banned in the UK, it has been missing in action so to speak since it last appeared on videotape all the way back in 1981, strangely this was one of those movies that most thought they would never see again.
A bus filled with schoolgirls makes their way through the British countryside ... ...rectified in the morning.
Killer's Moon is one of those movies that I have heard about over the years but never actually seen, as you can imagine I was overjoyed to hear of the new release and made sure the movie made its way to me double quick. Sadly it's a case of what you anticipate being far weaker than the reality, and my years of waiting were rewarded by a sad, poorly acted and ultimately lacklustre offering so bad that not even a cheap satellite ...
Advantages: Chilling horror movie, good lighting effects/ Disadvantages: slow to start with, some unfitting soundtrack
...classic novel by Bram Stoker, Nosferatu is a must see horror flick. Very unknown and underrated this film was made in 1922 starring famous German actor Max Schreck as the repugnant Nosferatu.
The DVD itself is beautifully restored to crisp quality and the soundtrack is done much the same justice. The lack of extra features is understandable as they probably didnt think about this in 1922! I wouldnt say the film was deathly scary, but on the other ... ...- the famous scene where Nosferatu (Max) climbs the stairs to his victims chamber. Written around the same period as Castle of Otranto, Nosferatu was at the very forefront of Gothic Horror and set the standards for films of this kind to this very day. I reccommend this to anyone who has a liking in horror, finds silent horror flicks ...

Review of Nosferatu (DVD)
Advantages: Has moments of real tension; better than some of Rollin's other works Disadvantages: Subtitled; plot seems to have been added as an afterthought in places
Starring: Marie-Georges Pascal, Felix Marten, Serge Marquand, Mirella Rancelot
Written By: Jean-Pierre Bouyxou; Christian Meunier
Directed By: Jean Rollin
It was the title of this movie that drew me in. When I first heard it I thought it was some gothic retelling of the famous novel. When I found out it was a French film by Jean Rollin, I decided to watch it anyway - because of the title.
At a vineyard in France, a new pesticide is being used ... ...having a negative effect on the workers spraying it, which is one of the biggest case of forshadowing I've seen in a while. Of course, the pesticide ends up turning the workers insane (and also melts them, it seems...), and one poor girl travelling to the vineyard and nearby village to meet her fiance ends up having to try to escape from a hoard of murderous melting people. In the meantime, there's lots of blood and gore, and any female Our Heroine ...
