3 Classic Horror Movies from the Past
Review of 3 Classic Horrors Of The Silver Screen - Vol. 3 - Little Shop Of Horrors / The Bat / Bride Of The Monster DVD by ladyvalmont

Advantages: Engaging Story Lines
Disadvantages: Lack of special effects due to production period

...the genre of horror, these 3 classics can bring enjoyment to all those that appreciate horror of high quality. With the use of compelling storylines and gruesome images, the viewer is left always anxious at what would come next - that's how true horror began to develop. Through these elements, those who watch it forget the fanciful special effects that present day cinema offers and is taken in by this collection's creative brilliance. All 3 movies ...
...plot lines and cinematic professionalism. "Little Shop of Horrors" focusses more on the "horrible" part of horror movies, whereas "The Bat" proves as having more of a psychological effect on the viewers. "The Bride of the Monster" is for all those who are interested in the horror genre as a whole - one of the movies that inspired future horror producers. ... Read review

not reccomended
Review of Dead End DVD by sparkler89

Advantages: good plot
Disadvantages: story line does not flow the way in which it should.

The first time I watched this film I thought it was quite intriging however, the secondtime I watched it I found the film some what repeatitive meaning I found most of the film extremely boring. If you are easily entertained, easily scared and confused this may be the film for you and I may have reccomend this, some scenes in the film are what toddlers might call "jumpy", nothing exciting. The plot is not particularly a strong one in my opinion but ... Read review

Just don't go to Slovakia.........
Review of Hostel Part 2 DVD by midpikyrozziy

Advantages: Good thrills, gore and some well-developed scenes
Disadvantages: Under-developed characters, weak plot

...got a night in, but Hostel lacks a proper, solid plot or character development to ever become a 'classic.' The director, Eli Roth, concentrates too much on, 'what is the most violent, sickening way to kill someone, that I can show on screen?' He instead should be concentrating on developing his killers characters, and also developing the victims characters, in order to make the audiences feel for the killings. Still, the cinematography and special ... Read review

4 Pumpkinheads and still no pumpkin for a head
Review of Pumpkinhead - Ashes To Ashes DVD by Phelthew

Advantages: Better than 2
Disadvantages: Crap special effects

Pumpkinhead is a monster/killer film from the 80s along the lines of other creations of that decade such as Freddy Krueger, Jason and Michael Myers ('78). The first Pumpkinhead film came out in 1987 and was directed by Stan Winston. Not a terribly bad film it spawned a terrible sequel in the loosest sense of the word. The sequel still had a Pumpkinhead demon but had absolutely nothing to do with the first film. Then in 2006 the Sci-Fi channel resurrected ...
...up where Pumpkinhead I left off. The film starts with Bunt (a character from the first film although a very different person now) having a nightmare about being chased by Pumpkinhead. Bunt and his sister and other loose family members run a crematorium. They are supposed to be cremating bodies but instead under the supervision of Doc Frasier (Doug Bradley from Hellraiser) they are selling the organs from the body and then just dumping the corpses ... Lesbian Lovers And Killer Cat Heads
Review of Prey (1978) by sghawken

Advantages: Unintentionally funny
Disadvantages: Pretty dire acting

...beginning with Warren's 1978 movie Prey described as "an interesting little film". Norman J. Warren (probably a director you have either never heard on, or due to the wonders of internet search engines have found yourself here looking for information on the director) made very few movies 10 in fact during his career. During the end of the 1970's as tastes in movies from the likes of Hammer Studios, little quirky directors like Norman J. Warren and ...
...was most certainly different. Prey is a most bizarre movie, with some of the worst acting I have ever seen in a British movie, and utterly ludicrous special effects, an off the wall story so bizarre that it sounds like your worst dream; combine this with what sounds a drunken old fool on an electronic synthesizer and what have you got? A winning, compelling and hilariously unintentional humour that can, for the open mind make Prey a real favourite ... Read review
