I wouldn't go out and buy it, but it was pretty good!

Advantages: suspenseful and interesting
Disadvantages: it was probably better in Japanese

As horror films go, it wasn't the worst we have seen. Absolutley lacking in blood and guts, it was suspenseful but predictable, although the ending wasn't expected. To be fair, I think that any film is going to lose some of the shine with subtitles. The settings were semi-creepy (you see grimy blocks of flats on the tele all the time), and, thinking about it, it was probably one of the lowest budget films I've seen. That being said, the acting was ...
...days which only have a couple actors. The actress and child actress were the main characters and in every scene, although there were some other supporting actors. I enjoyed it in a sort of people-watching way (is that how they live in japan?) and the story was creepy enough, if a bit lacking in action. However, that is why a person could consider it "good" - even lacking in action, we sat with eyes glued to the screen - normally such a bloodless ...

Delve into the black heart of Asia

Advantages: Hugely tense, effective without cheap effects
Disadvantages: Formulaic storyline

...far, so formulaic) - Where Ring stands on its own is the creeping fear that drips into every shot of every frame - There are very few cheap scares on offer here (American horror directors take note) and the ending shows how horribly effective films can be in shocking the audience without the need to resort to cheap gore effects. The sequels added to the Ring mythology, but struggled to match the tension of this true modern horror classic. ...

Ring II

Advantages: Only for those that enjoyed Ring 1
Disadvantages: Diissapointing.

...here. What made the first Ring film so sublimely creepy is i am afraid totally missing in this one. It all just seemed a very inferior rehash of its predecessor. For die hards only i'm afraid and i doubt if maybe they will enjoy this . Upon viewing I didn't even get far very far into this before i lost interest altogether and switched off . Sorry but i can't recommend this film at all ....at least not on what i saw anyway. First one though was really ...

She's back!

Advantages: Some jumpy moments
Disadvantages: Extremely dull

Following on from the events in the first film, Rachel Keller (Naomi Watts) and her son Aidan (David Dorfman) have now moved to a small town in order to start their life over again after the horrific events that occurred to them previously. Rachel has now got a job at a local newspaper in order to spend more time with her son however when a teenager dies in very extraordinary circumstances, Rachel feels that his death is all too familiar. That’s ...
...into Aidan… I enjoyed the first film although it was rather slow, this film however is terrible. There seems to be nothing redeemable about it. The director has tried to break away from very simple but effective premise of the first film, that being of course that after you’ve watched the video tape you’ll be dead in exactly seven days. This film has been made more complicated than that. It hardly uses the video aspect of it at all which is what ...

Ring trilogy-brilliant!

Advantages: Very scary! Well directed and executed
Disadvantages: Can seem a bit slow

These are some of the scariest films I have ever seen! I have seen the original Japanese versions and thought that these American remakes were amazing films in their own right. Deaths are occuring 7 days after watching a certain video but you never really see anyone get killed so the suspense and mystery are high which makes the films scarier. It plays on your imagination and builds up suspense very well for an american horror film. Some could say ...
...that this builds up the suspense even more and makes it much scarier! I think these films are well directed and executed and would reccommend anyone who hasnt seen them to buy this box set. Even though it is rated a 15, viewers older than this will be scared! ...
