Trying to steal the prequel with a sequel
Advantages: Entertaining on some level Disadvantages: A bit too bland for a horror
...characters and understand their anxieties. Book of Shadows, however, tries to use this technique in an almost 'courtroom drama' setting and although there were attempts at creating some suspense for the viewer, they were short-lived due to the gradual predictability of the film. Book of Shadows relies too much on the style of its prequel and not enough on its own horror elements, which seem lazily thrown in here and there.
However, even with a lack ... ...have some disturbing scenes - dead bodies/children and 'satanic' rituals with some form of possession - although not altogether horror scenes. Again, these events can mostly be seen 30 minutes before they happen, with few exceptions which make the events only noticeable 30 minutes after they have occured, giving the film a horrible blandness.
Although not the worst film ever made, its far from the best and could have been alot better. ...

Uwe Gotta Be Kidding
Advantages: Some decent effects. Disadvantages: Weak and disjointed plot.
72. Alone in the Dark (2005)
Or more accurately, small groups of people in dimly lit locations, shooting wildly at CGI and random extras with whited out faces. If I were to choose one word to sum up this film it would be 'why'. In fact, why oh why oh why? Really. What makes anyone think that taking a generic computer game that borrows from older films and stories, and turning it into a movie, will produce anything other than an unoriginal generic ... ...instant intelligence kit. Alone in the Dark is shockingly bad. How it ever secured a 2008 sequel I'll never know - I notice they have a completely new cast and different director. How did Uwe Boll get away with another tiresome game conversion after the mess of Bloodrayne? How is he now working on Bloodrayne 3 as we speak? Films from games already had a poor reputation, but alienating gamers by making a movie with only a passing resemblance to the ...

More like My Big Mistake
Advantages: Film to waste time, for the faint hearted Disadvantages: Storyline, ending, cliqued story
...was a lot less than My Little Eye! They really needed a lot more twists and more action involved because there were plenty of times where you could have fell asleep or switched over. This is definitely not one to see, if you must prepare to be disappointed and left wishing that you hadn't wasted 95 minutes of your life on this film. ...

Embrace the rejects, hope you've got the patience!
Advantages: Has a certain appeal, doesn't shy away Disadvantages: Some dodgy camera work, acting and FX
...guru/buff/cult director Rob Zombie saw the success of his debut feature length film House of 1,000 Corpses, he must have thought 'Sequel, here we come!' straight away. Definitely not for everyone, and criticised by many, it was also hailed as a hit by many due to the gruesome nature and the almost B-movie style of directing it adopted.
Enter this sequel, dragging with it a number of the characters from the first film, and keeping up the trends with ... ...film, although some of the more basic plot lines in this film could 'spoil' the first, if such a thing was feasible.
It sort of has two parts to it, kicking off with five unsuspecting members of a touring music group holed up in a motel room, who are held captive in the room by a pair of sadistic siblings, Otis and Baby Firefly, fresh from the first film. What strikes straight away is the sheer lack of care factor for human feelings or physical ...

2001 Maniacs - Slightly misses the mark
Advantages: Great gore scenes, acting is so bad its laughable Disadvantages: Acting, acting and uh.... acting!
...gore-meister Hershell Gordon-Lewis’ 2000 Maniacs, 2001 Maniacs goes for the ‘so bad its good’ style of horror but slightly misses the mark. Three college slackers, Anderson, Corey and Nelson are on their way to Spring Break in Florida when an unexpected detour takes them into the small, off the map town of Pleasant Valley, South Carolina. They are joined by 3 drifters; Joey, Kat and Ricky, and biker couple Malcolm and Leah, who have all also arrived ... ...a taste of them. 2001 Maniacs certainly lives up to its predecessor as far as blood and gore is concerned, but, for me, the characters are so lame and unconvincing that they are hardly worth caring about. The film is riddled with the type of unconvincing and below par acting that one usually associates with a low-budget horror flick, you would see better at your local matinee on a Saturday afternoon or your son Timmy’s high school play. The actors ...
