Frankensteins Man or Monster ?
Review of Frankenstein DVD by dreamscancometrue

Advantages: classic movie
Disadvantages: a bit dated for the younger generation

...Clive as the Mad/Genius Doctor Frankenstein and Dwight Frye has is slightly retarded and deranged hunchbacked assistant. Obsessed with the possibility of producing life from dead body parts, Frankenstein pushes the boundaries of science to the max. Eventually after obtaining parts from the local morgue they have a male the body prepared, (Should of gone to the body shop). all they need now is a brain. Frankenstein's obsession at playing God, makes ...
...But is it the life Frankenstein wanted? Has he created the ultimate Man or Monster? A very dated movie now, but one I think the older generation would still enjoy, even if just for remembering past movies, My teenagers found it quite boring and certainly not frightening in the least, in fact if it wasn't so boring said one, it would be comical. I quite preferred some of the later versions, with the flute playing Egore with his crooked broken neck. ... Read review

To a brave new world of Gods and Monsters
Review of The Bride Of Frankenstein DVD by TheNeil

Advantages: See review
Disadvantages: See review

...splat/gore movie Neil? Not in the slightest. My personal favourite, the film I love above all others barely scrapes into the horror genre anymore. A film so old it's only just in the sound era. After my review of Singin' In The Rain many may assume that that's the film I worship but the truth is even more bizarre, for indeed my celluloid love affair is with someone far different to Gene Kelly or Judy Garland. My most revered film of all times is...drum ...
...An ancient horror film from the depths of Hollywood history. And a sequel at that. All of this is true - The Bride IS a sequel and it IS ancient (1935 to be precise). For whatever reason (and hopefully I'll detail one or two of them) though it's held me spellbound ever since and hopefully you'll forgive me this labour of love as I review it. Will I be wearing rose tinted spectacles? Probably, but maybe I can inject enough enthusiasm to get more people ... Read review

Review of Frankenstein DVD by TEASPOON

Advantages: review

The most important, horror movie ever made, with Boris Karloff joining the immortals as the flat headed,big-booted,sad eyed monster-whom director James Whale made a resonant figure by dressing him up like one of the scarred WW1 veterans then on the skids all over America. Colin Clive,s neurotic mad scientist and Dwight Frye,s hunchbacked brain dropper, collaborate on the making of a man,but the innocent turn,s savage when mistreated by all and ... Read review
