A Good Suspense Film, Whether You Believe in Aliens or not
Advantages: somewhat realistic, good acting, good charcter developement, suspenseful Disadvantages: Whether the events actually took place is questionable
The Fourth Kind, in theatres as of November, 2009, is an alien movie done in a documentary style, directed by Olatunde Osunsanmi. It tells the story of events that supposedly took place in Nome, Alaska and contains documentary footage of Psych patients who were believed to be abducted by aliens. Throughout the movie, it flashes between old footage and the modern re-enactment, in which Milla Jovovich plays the main character, a psychologist, whose ... ...the strange cases her patients are experiencing. It is definitely a suspenseful film and the documentary style brings it more credibility than a lot of other alien abduction films. Whether it is believable or not is really dependant on whether you have any belief in aliens, but it is a good thriller and mystery story none the less. The characters are believable and they avoid making it ridiculous by keeping the aliens off camera at all points. I ...

Night of the Living Dead: A true classic finally on blu-ray
Advantages: A fantastic way to watch a true classic Disadvantages: Only one extra, would have been nice to see more
Night of the Living Dead is the daddy of all zombie movies. Yes there may have been films that featured zombies before this but none came close to creating the same world that George A. Romero managed to. A film that manages to truly define the genre and has been imitated ever since. Now for many years you've probably seen countless releases of NOTLD on every format. And apart from the Elite LD and DVD release, many of them have been sub-par ... ...footage (for example the DVD release by Contender). So thankfully Optimum has decided that this classic film is worthy of a proper blu-ray edition. For a low budget, black and white film from the Sixties, this transfer is fantastic. It's very similar to the old Elite DVD but with more detail and better contrast. There is a lot more grain evident but that's to be expected. In fact I'm grateful for the fact they didn't try to digitally remove any film ...

Evil in Residence
Advantages: Twists at the start Disadvantages: You've seen almost all of it before elsewhere
...twist at the end of Resident Evil: Apocalypse doesn't seem to have been used much which may annoy or confuse some viewers who were expecting it to be developed on. There are a few nods back to it now and then and Alice seems to have developed telekinetic abilities as well from no-where (no idea if that was ever used in any of the games having only played 1 of them). There is a lovely old school nod in homage back to the Hitchcock classic "The Birds" ... ...get going and would benefit from a cut of about 20 minutes (where the survivor caravan is established). The action in places is cut a bit too fast to be watchable but the film brings some new ideas to the Resident Evil franchise. (this review also appears on dooyoo) ...
