This one made me feel dirty Advantages: It's over fairly quickly Disadvantages: Hammy acting, depressing, torture porn ...just become depressing and uncomfortable. Hostel 2 falls neatly into the latter category. I could write a detailed plot synopsis like I usually do in my reviews, but what it boils down to is this - three young American women travel to Prague, get abducted and tortured to death in a variety of gory ways by people who have paid for the pleasure. That's it, really. There are no subtle plot twists, no symbolism, no allegory, nothing. It's just people ... ...loving detail. You can almost imagine director Eli Roth jerking off during the literal blood bath scene. I'm not really a fan of this brand of horror (I have similar feelings towards the later Saw movies) so I suppose this one was never going to get high marks from me. It's not because I'm particularly squemish (I think gore and nudity have a place in any good horror film) but honestly, I just don't find anything entertaining about this movie. It's ... Hostel 2 Advantages: Thrillin, Gives goosbumps Disadvantages: Too much of unnecessary gore and sex scenes ...Hunting tattoo. Axelle is then lured from the village festival into the woods by the Bubblegum Gang, where Beth surprises and beheads her. My verdict:- Thes hostel series have too much of sex scenes and nudity. I don't recommend going out alone after this... Advantages: Everything Disadvantages: The beginning is a bit slow ... Story Quarantine is a remake of [Rec] (2007). Angela Vidal (Jennifer Carpenter) opens the film shooting her opening part for the news. Angela and her filming partner Scott Percival (Steve Harris) show us around the fire station. Just don't go to Slovakia......... Advantages: Good thrills, gore and some well-developed scenes Disadvantages: Under-developed characters, weak plot ...got a night in, but Hostel lacks a proper, solid plot or character development to ever become a 'classic.' The director, Eli Roth, concentrates too much on, 'what is the most violent, sickening way to kill someone, that I can show on screen?' He instead should be concentrating on developing his killers characters, and also developing the victims characters, in order to make the audiences feel for the killings.
