Screaming fun

Advantages: In-jokes
Disadvantages: Weaker than previous Scream films

Scream 3 is the third outing for the popular Scream films, directed by Wes Craven, in 2000. This film follows on from the previous film and sees Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) living in a deserted mountainside cabin. She is trying to get away from the trauma of the murders at Windsor College and is now working as a counsellor for women in distress. However when she hears about the murders on the film set of Stab 3 and that a picture of her dead ...
...are a fan of the Scream films, then you will love this, but otherwise it may be a bit difficult to follow some of the references to past films. I like the self aware references to trilogy films and the rules of horror films in general. Wes Craven has directed a film that does justice to the horror genre. ...

Alien 3 (Special Edition)

Advantages: Character development, Sigourney Weaver
Disadvantages: Bad CGI, repetitive action scenes, plot holes

...as much troubled production as Alien 3. Director David Fincher was brought into the project late into its development; there were numerous creative differences in scriptwriting; not to mention all the pressure of living up to the successes of the two near-perfect blockbusters that preceded it. Fincher reportably disowned the film before editing even began. Deep in hyper sleep, Ripley, Newt, and Hicks, crash land in their escape pod after an onboard ...
...her, and everyone else, an alien somehow had gotten onto her ship and is now deciding to wreck havoc inside the planet's maximum security prison. With no weapons or functional technology, Ripley's pessimism is understandable when she states "We're fucked". The problems come mainly from Alien 3's poor writing. Many fans were immediately disgruntled when they heard Hicks was going to be killed off, after been such an influential character in Aliens, ...

Fantastic special effects with great storylines!

Advantages: Special effects, strong storyline
Disadvantages: a fair bit of filming in dark places!

...scenario which is just has the uneasy possibility of happening in real life - this is your film! I think there is enough description in the Product header to give you a flavour of what it is about - you should also note that it is directed by the man who gave us Pan's Labyrinth (another must-see film). The first of the series, MIMIC, was quite well publicised at the time of release and is probably the best of the three. The two later films did not ...
...the basics are already known there is still a lot in the way of special effects and story line that is worth seeing. I would say definitely worth buying as a set (which is what I did) - they are the sort of films that you can watch again and again and still see things that you didn't see before! ...

Want a scare? Then Watch!

Advantages: Two of the best films of horror made
Disadvantages: Alien vs Predator a let down :(

...are the defining films of alien horror and have influenced nightmares and feelings that we aren’t alone. Not many films can make a nasty creature come to life and not only believe it exists but generally feel scared that if you faced one of these aliens you know you are dead. It’s the weirdest feeling to have but a feeling that makes these films jump out and make you believe that aliens can be far scarier and daunting to face than the stereotypical ...
...victims more intensely, add the alien skins its enemies and hangs the corpses gives the predator even more of a nasty and evil presence. key things to watch out for is Arnie against the predator you'll really get the feel of man against alien and you'll get behind Arnie to show what humanity is made of. Also T-rex (Jesse Ventura) tries to steal Arnie's thunder by being the biggest bad-ass and he is huge and with his mini-gun you really feel worried ...

Best take on Vampire legend since "Nosferatu"

Advantages: Brilliant reworking of mythos, strong acting, visuals and music
Disadvantages: Ending a little sudden

...wolves or bats or fog. Near Dark managed to make vampires more human, more realistic and in doing so, a damn sight more scary. Caleb (Adrian Padsar) lives on a sprawling farm in the American mid-west with his Father, Loy (Tim Thomerson) and his much younger sister Sarah (Marcy Leeds). Out cruising one night, he runs into Mae (Jenny Wright). A girl most certainly not from around there and by strict definition to the bored farmer, incredibly interesting. ...
...period finally run out? Near Dark's strengths lie not only in the quality of the acting or the characters and their motives, but also in the whole Vampire thing. There is no mention of the word in the entire film, the vamps themselves never grow large canines or levitate. When they choose their victims, they dominate them with their superior strength or trick them into helplessness or simply shoot them dead. When they feed, they crunch through skin ...
