Confusing and ridiculous.

Advantages: Actors, set, period costumes
Disadvantages: Everything else

The storyline to this film is bizare. Basically there is an isolated village which looks to be set a hundred or so years ago, even though the film is set quite recently. The whole village is surrounded by a wood, and everyone in it believes that the wood is filled with terrible creatures who will not allow them to enter. The viewer later finds out that the whole thing is a giant lie made up by some technology hating old people in an attempt to create ...

A PLACID HORROR

Advantages: Short and funny
Disadvantages: Not really scary or original

...Film Only Review Lake Placid tells the typical story of a small town plagued by an under water killer, but, is given a new look by the fact that this small town is located in the mountains, not the beach, making it very difficult for a shark to give them problems. I! AM! BEOWULF!

Advantages: Anthony Hopkins
Disadvantages: CGI.

...but I digress... Beowulf uses a technique wherein CGI is pasted over and mixed in with live action footage. Original, yet massively over-ambitious. The graphics werent generally well-received, as the public has come to associate CGI characters with childrens' movies. Not to mention that CGI itself is only in its adolescent state.
