If You Are Not Back By Midnight...You won't Be Coming Home.

Advantages: Good Old Fashioned 1980's Horror/Thriller.
Disadvantages: A little bit dark in places.

...I first watched Prom Night many years ago when I was a teenager and I remember it as quite a scary horror movie of it's time. Maybe because it was one of the first horror films I had actually watched that made me remember it so well. Well I just recently picked Prom Night up quite cheaply on DVD and thought I would add it to my collection as it is a good film and one that I had enjoyed. My friends and I all talked about this film at School also I ...
...really. Well Prom Night was made in 1980 and stars Leslie Nielsen and Jamie Lee Curtis one of my favourite actresses from this era. The Movie is also directed by Paul Lynch. It was filmed in London Ontario Canada and was re-made last year in 2008. The Movie lasts for around an hour and a half and cost around $1,600000 to make, so was quite low budget really. Prom Night won a few awards shortly after it's release, from Best Achievement in Film ...

"MIND THE DOORS!"

Advantages: Donald Pleasence at his best.
Disadvantages: It's alternative American title; 'Raw Meat' is abysmal

Donald Pleasance at his best. The creepy atmosphere of the London Underground is the perfect setting for an unrelenting excercise in graphic and gruesome horror, but with a great sense of humour. From the art direction to the acting, the whole thing feels very real. Some may find it rather too gruesome but other than that, there is nothing to fault this classic British horror! Death Line is a masterpiece of simplistic excess. The use of real-life ...
...a symphony of terror, horror and humour. I have nothing but praise for this film. Fantastic! THE FILM ‘Beneath modern London buried alive in its plague-ridden tunnels lives a tribe of once humans. Neither men nor women, they are less than animals… they are the raw meat of the human race!’ U.S. tagline for ‘Raw Meat’ A civil servant (James Cossins) returning home after a night on the tiles is attacked on a London Underground station. He is found ...

Those Damned Kids.

Advantages: Reminds me my kids aint so bad
Disadvantages: original was much better

As i realy enjoyed the original 1960 version i thought i'd give this one the once over. Based on the story The Midwich Cuckoo's by John Wyndham, this is a chilling tail of how the women in a small American town"Midwich" fall pregnant after the entire town is knocked out by an unforseen force. Goverment investigations can find no reason for this phenoninum and can offer the residents no explination, fear and panic set in with the villagers as they ...
...have they been impregnated by an extra terrestial force? Peoples greed for money soon has them relaxed, as the goverment offer to pay the families large sums of money to go ahead with the pregnancies, on condition they can monitor the children. The children are born with Platinum hair and physic abilities, not only can they read each others thoughts but everyone else's, As soon as the children reach school age the fun starts, and it becomes clear ...

Welcome to the Monster Club...

Advantages: Vincent Price and a wonderful cast of horror actors. The Ghoul section is excellent.
Disadvantages: The Monster Club members are in the most part ridiculously unconvincing.

The last decent Horror Anthology produced in the Hammer/Amicus style. Price, Carradine & Pleasance brought together as if to say farewell to the old ways of making horror films. THE FILM From 'Sword & Sorcery' (the makers of Hawk the Slayer), and Roy Ward Baker, the Director of A Night To Remember (1958), Quatermass and the Pit (1967), and Scars of Dracula (1970) came THE MONSTER CLUB (1980), a Jack Gill presented Chips Production, produced by ...
...The Monster Club is a Horror Anthology in the same vein as Dr. Terror's House Of Horrors, From Beyond The Grave, Tales From the Crypt and the Ward Baker directed and Subotsky produced Asylum and Vault of Horror. In many ways it marked the end of the whole British Horror film industry which began with Hammer and later encompassed Amicus, Tyburn and Tigon. Made arond the same time as its cult 'Sword & Sorcery' bed-fellow Hawk The Slayer, it's another ...

Another jewel in Hammer´s crown

Advantages: Vampires, sets, photography, costumes, music
Disadvantages: Some hokey preaching

...to be an enjoyable villainess. The photography, sets and scenery make the film look wonderful , and although Tudor Gates´otherwise excellent script introduces some stink-air don´t-trust-anyone-over-30s crap (middle-aged men burn Playboy models in the stake, not lonely old women), Twins of evil is another jewel in Hammer´s 1970s output. ...
