An introduction to exploitation

Advantages: A good introduction to exploitation films and the work of Jess Franco
Disadvantages: But it might be too tame if you're already a fan of exploitation films

...two exploitation films directed by Jess Franco and released under Tartan's Grindhouse label. As such they're not masterpieces, or suitable for all tastes, but they do attract a fairly strong cult following and are definitely worth a watch if you're interested in seeing films that are a bit off the beaten path. This is apparently the second Jess Franco double bill released by Tartan although it's the only one I've seen (and was my introduction to ...
...can gather most fans of Jess Franco will just be glad to have these films on DVD and the quality is about as good as the films are ever going to get. The DVDs have next to nothing in the way of extras. Devil's Island Lovers contains approximately 30 minutes of additional and alternate scenes which made up the more sexually and violently explicit French version of the film. These scenes are of poor sound and video quality and look like they were ...

Female Vampire

Advantages: looks good, great soundtrack, sexy, dreamy
Disadvantages: no story, no horror, low budget

Highly enjoyable for people who prefer style over plot. The story makes no sense. The beautiful Lina Romay wonders around in the nude through misty forests, a lot. For she is a vampire. The last of the Karlsteins. She never says anything and can communicate only through the medium of bad voiceover. She rolls around a lot in sexual ectasy and gives very dangerous blowjobs. She kills her victims (male and female) through sexual pleasure. A doctor sits ...
...what he's up against. Neither do we. Meanwhile a man with a big moustache is haunted by her and wants to meet her. The soundtrack is very nice. It's set in Maderia. It moves from softcore sex scene to softcore sex scene in a sort of hypnotic way. The film isn't scary, but it's sort of sexy though not a hardcore version. The french got to see the sexed up version. I watched this about seven times. The visuals are great. Fits in with other 70's sexy ...

Death Note Movie Version (DVD)

Advantages: totally worth to collect
Disadvantages: if you not a DN fan or movie freak, then you will not really interested in it

Death Note (デスノート, Desu NÅto?) is a series of two live-action Japanese films released in 2006 and based on the Death Note manga and anime series by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata. The films primarily center on a university student who decides to rid the world of evil with the help of a supernatural notebook that kills anyone whose name is written in it. The two films were directed by ShÅ«suke Kaneko, produced by Nippon Television, and distributed ...
...as the "Death Note". The Death Note's instructions claim that if a person's name is written within it while picturing that person's face, that person shall die. Light is initially skeptical of the notebook's authenticity, but after experimenting with it, he realizes that the Death Note is real. Soon he is visited by the Note's original owner, a shinigami named Ryuk. After that meeting, Light seeks to become "the God of the New World" by passing his ...

PMS Can Be A Devil

Advantages: Disturbing, chilling atmosphere
Disadvantages: Not all it's cracked up to be; terrible special effects, some laughable bits

...beginning to drastically differ from the sweet young girl she once was. When doctors examine Regan they find that she turns violent and screams profanities at them which she has never done before. Doctors decide that a physiatrist may be the best option for Regan, but when all else fails Regan’s Mother is forced to turn to the church… I wasn’t around when The Exorcist was first released back in 1973 but have heard numerous things about the film ...
...to watch the film but have always been hesitant due to all the harrowing things I’ve heard about it. The film has been named ‘The Scariest Film Of All Time’… fitting? I still don’t know. I have heard about people committing suicide after seeing the film but curiosity got the better of me and surely 36 years after it’s initial release the film wouldn’t be able to achieve the same shock factor would it? That I can’t effectively answer, after seeing ...
