Not as bad as they say
Advantages: A slick, well made thriller/horror Disadvantages: Unoriginal, 'horror-by-numbers'
...she does. Early on in the film, she is approached by a man called Doug Blackwell, who has a problem. The river in his town, Haven, is running red and the locals are claiming that it's a biblical plague. Although not initially interested, Katherine agrees to investigate the phenomenon when Doug mentions that the locals are blaming the 'plague' on a local 12 year old girl, with suggestions that she should be killed lest further plagues be visited upon ... ...assistant, Ben, whilst they're investigating the 'blood' river. Further 'plagues' follow and Katherine suffers disturbing visions, most commonly when she encounters the young girl at the centre of the mystery. So just what is going on in Haven and will Katherine get to the bottom of it before the increasingly angry local populace lose their patience and take matters into their own hands?

The battle of science vs religion gets intense
Advantages: Entertaining enough, kept me interested Disadvantages: Nothing special
...saw it starting on TV the other night. Unsure, I started watching it, intrigued by the blurb of it being a modern re-enactment of the 10 Biblical plagues. There are mixed reviews of it, and I could see why, although I found myself strangely enjoying most of it.
Billed as a horror film, I would say it is more of a thriller. The Biblical nature of the plagues that the film features prevent it from getting a sci-fi tag, but you would be forgiven for ... ...Louisiana which seems to be the target for the Biblical plagues.
Upon arrival, Katherine's scepticism remains as she sets about disproving the plagues theory, finding scientific reasoning for each and every occurrence. However, pressures from the locals to destroy Loren, the girl around whom everything disastrous seems to centre, starts making her question the very answers she herself has proven.
The acting in the film is of a pretty average standard. ...

The film with the ass poster
Advantages: Scary and unique imagery and concept Disadvantages: Bad acting, cliches, finale
The classic film opening - bit of music, bit of scenery from lots of angles, big shots of the city and then blamo we have Casey jogging along a bridge, one snowy morning in a park (twasn’t really a ‘blamo’ moment tbh). She sees a glove lying on the path and being easily distracted she decides to pick it up. Behind her a sickly looking child stares at her wearing only one glove. She turns away and sees a bulldog wearing a plain white mask over its ... ...describing to her friend over the phone as she baby-sits this creepy little boy and his sister. The boy gets out of bed in the night and when she goes looking for him, he’s in his baby sister’s room making her stare into a mirror, repeating over and over “Jumby wants to be born now.” Casey disturbs him and it smacks her up (changes her pitch up). Disturbed Casey is having lots of problems lately. She hallucinates weird things and her bathroom mirror ...

28 plotholes later
Advantages: Effects are ok Disadvantages: Overly dark for too long
Forget anything that happened in the original film because it won't be relevant to this one. Robert Carlisle is rubbish in this. But he's not to blame for the awful script & filming. This film suffers from all the problems the original did. Far too much filming in the dark or in low light where you can't see anything happening. Far too many fast cuts from shot to shot.
The plague of the previous film is clearing and those wonderful Americans are ... ...formerly infected country but only in the cleared areas of London that have been declared safe.
The plague is being researching (for a cure I assume) and the monkeys involved in that research are freed (infecting the animal rights protesters) allowing the plague back into the population.
The fact that we're dropped into an attack right at the start and then shown the progress of the disease dying out in Britain, people being introduced back by ...

"The Unborn" A review of the spooky horror
Advantages: Great story, decent special effects and very unique Disadvantages: Some 'off' acting in parts, can become a little boring
The Unborn is about an evil spirit from another world seeking revenge. Is it possible to be haunted by someone who has never been born? - It tries to slowly take possesion of her body.
The Unborn starts off quite mellow and put together, but soon explodes with questions as you get a little confused. It's a rather dark film with some really scary bits which make you jump a lot, but it deffinitly makes a good film. I really did jump at one point which ... ...number 1 goes to Friday the 13th (2009).
The storyline is extroidanary, nothing I've come across before. Like many people, I've seen movies which have people being haunted by ghosts and such, but this film is a spirit from a different world and involves twins from an unborn baby... how strange! I think the storyline is very clever and original as it's very different to any films people may class as similar. I must say though that nearer the end ...
