The Window to the Soul
Advantages: Stunning imagery, pathos, intriguing plot and characters. Disadvantages: Ignores the substance at times in favour of art.
Eyes Without a Face or Les Yeux Sans Visage to give the film its original French title is an unforgettable piece of French horror cinema. Filmed in 1959, the scenes of horror may be decidedly tame in comparison to modern cinema, yet the film has a story and vision that have endured the years. The plot of the film focuses on Doctor Génessier (Pierre Brasseur) whose daughter has been left with a horrifically disfigured face following a car accident. ... ...is the simplistic premise behind Eyes Without a Face. At the time the film was made, director Georges Franju was advised not to upset European censors and therefore to refrain from using too much blood, scenes of animal torture or to present a stereotypical mad scientist. Since all three of these elements are essential to the film, it is a tribute to Franju's talents as a director that he managed to present these elements with such subtlety as to ...

PMS Can Be A Devil
Advantages: Disturbing, chilling atmosphere Disadvantages: Not all it's cracked up to be; terrible special effects, some laughable bits
...beginning to drastically differ from the sweet young girl she once was. When doctors examine Regan they find that she turns violent and screams profanities at them which she has never done before. I wasn’t around when The Exorcist was first released back in 1973 but have heard numerous things about the film ... ...to watch the film but have always been hesitant due to all the harrowing things I’ve heard about it. The film has been named ‘The Scariest Film Of All Time’… fitting? I still don’t know. I have heard about people committing suicide after seeing the film but curiosity got the better of me and surely 36 years after it’s initial release the film wouldn’t be able to achieve the same shock factor would it?
That I can’t effectively answer, after seeing ...

Gory, gritty and deliciously fun, a worthy sequel to the original
Advantages: Gritty, suspenseful and jumpy - a solid horror Disadvantages: Ridiculous plot lines in places, a little too gory on occasions
...on a regular basis with the pap often served up by Hollywood of late, both myself and my friend went to see the first Descent film without much expectation and with only the merest of hope we may at least get the odd nervous jump and maybe a quiet giggle at what will probably be another big busted beauty running around in her well-matched knickers.
We were very wrong, the original film was gritty, well-shot and was, in our opinion, one of the best ... ...they were going to follow the original film on as it had left our feisty protagonist in a rather inescapable position, however, within the first few minutes of the film we see her again – bloody but free from the cavern of terror that had claimed so many of her friends.
With suspicions running high as to the fate of the young women, and with Sarah's memory a complete blank, she is coerced into returning to the caves to assist with the rescue mission ...
