Dawn of the dead..zombies just got scarier!

Advantages: Scary, Fast paced, well directed, good acting
Disadvantages: none

...that the classic zombie film dawn of the dead had been remade i became a bit wary. Im a zombie fanatic, seen all the films and read the book, hell i have my own zombie plan! The new film certainly helped to further fuel my morbid fascination... The film starts off with eerie clips from the news which then leads you into the life of the main character Sarah Polly a nurse. We follow her for the first part of the film as the zombie plague erupts across ...
...jumping and cringing, you want to shout "NO, DONT OPEN THAT DOOR!" and other heckles to help people out. Sarah meets up with a group of survivors and they end up holding up in a mall. I wont give much else away about the main story/plot. Once the film gets going you are glued to the screen, as well as fast paced scary moments with terrifying zombies there is also a lot of in depth character development and interaction, almost all of the characters ...

Offers plenty of jumps

Advantages: Scary. Atmospheric.
Disadvantages: Not taking a map on a caving expedition is a bit of a weak plot point.

The Decent follows the expedition of 6 girls on a caving holiday. When an unexpected rock blocks there exist they find their not the only one's down there.. From the director of Dog Soldiers this surprise 2005 indie hit is almost like a film of two half’s. The first an atmospheric and claustrophobic affair, while the second following a more conventional slasher film. While the first does well to build up the tension, it's the later which offers the ...

I wouldn't go out and buy it, but it was pretty good!

Advantages: suspenseful and interesting
Disadvantages: it was probably better in Japanese

As horror films go, it wasn't the worst we have seen. Absolutley lacking in blood and guts, it was suspenseful but predictable, although the ending wasn't expected. To be fair, I think that any film is going to lose some of the shine with subtitles. The settings were semi-creepy (you see grimy blocks of flats on the tele all the time), and, thinking about it, it was probably one of the lowest budget films I've seen. That being said, the acting was ...
...days which only have a couple actors. The actress and child actress were the main characters and in every scene, although there were some other supporting actors. I enjoyed it in a sort of people-watching way (is that how they live in japan?) and the story was creepy enough, if a bit lacking in action. However, that is why a person could consider it "good" - even lacking in action, we sat with eyes glued to the screen - normally such a bloodless ...

Awesome ride from start to finish

Advantages: Everything
Disadvantages: Nothing

...just sitting in by yourself. The story is extremely well written, with a great cast who furfull their parts to perfection. This film truly delivers a rollercoaster ride from start to finish, and ends unexpectedly. If I were to choose any horror film to reccomend to fans of the genre this would be it. Bring on the sequle Is all I can say. ...

Embrace the rejects, hope you've got the patience!

Advantages: Has a certain appeal, doesn't shy away
Disadvantages: Some dodgy camera work, acting and FX

...guru/buff/cult director Rob Zombie saw the success of his debut feature length film House of 1,000 Corpses, he must have thought 'Sequel, here we come!' straight away. Definitely not for everyone, and criticised by many, it was also hailed as a hit by many due to the gruesome nature and the almost B-movie style of directing it adopted. Enter this sequel, dragging with it a number of the characters from the first film, and keeping up the trends with ...
...film, although some of the more basic plot lines in this film could 'spoil' the first, if such a thing was feasible. It sort of has two parts to it, kicking off with five unsuspecting members of a touring music group holed up in a motel room, who are held captive in the room by a pair of sadistic siblings, Otis and Baby Firefly, fresh from the first film. What strikes straight away is the sheer lack of care factor for human feelings or physical ...
