The Omen Pentology (Box Set)
Advantages: Fantasically shot, great value horror package
Disadvantages: Maybe a bit too focused and gory for the casual viewer
The Omen Pentology is definately a collection of top quailty horror films with convincing acting and great inovative camera techniques. That said the pentology is probably best left to the horror fans. People curious about the genre might find it a bit too focused and perhaps should start with more approachable films such as 28 days later. Cute, Clever, Mischievous, Intelligent, NOT.
Advantages: there's lots of scenes with Cute Gizmo in!
Disadvantages: there is none!!!
...obviously I was wrong. Also Gremlins is a great DVD but I watched it about 1 month ago, and could not review it due to the fact that I had a massive pile of Books to review. A unique spin on old formula.
Advantages: Looks gorgeous, soundtrack is amazing, creatures are memorable.
Disadvantages: May be too dark for some.

Advantages: strong plot, excellent performances

The devil's backbone - Guillermo Del Toro.
I first got into Guillermo's work having watched Pan's labyrinth. How ironic it was that that was his most recent work, and I worked from it, backwards to his humbler beginnings. Guillermo is possibly better known for his work on Blade 2, and also cult classic, Hellboy. His passion is definitely for fantasy, and having watched Pan I simply adored his style, so immediately went to my local HMV and got them ...
