Screaming fun

Advantages: In-jokes
Disadvantages: Weaker than previous Scream films

Scream 3 is the third outing for the popular Scream films, directed by Wes Craven, in 2000. This film follows on from the previous film and sees Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) living in a deserted mountainside cabin. She is trying to get away from the trauma of the murders at Windsor College and is now working as a counsellor for women in distress. However when she hears about the murders on the film set of Stab 3 and that a picture of her dead ...
...are a fan of the Scream films, then you will love this, but otherwise it may be a bit difficult to follow some of the references to past films. I like the self aware references to trilogy films and the rules of horror films in general. Wes Craven has directed a film that does justice to the horror genre. ...

A decent sequel

Advantages: Innovative and good script
Disadvantages: none

When Scream was released in 1996, I was very impressed by the satirical and self-referential style of the film. However I was sceptical when the sequel, Scream 2 was released in 1997, as I thought it was straining the idea to make additional films. Scream 2 follows on two years after the events in Scream and sees Sidney (Neve Campbell) and Randy (Jamie Kennedy) trying to lead a normal life after their traumatic experiences in Woodsboro. While attending ...
...seeing stars who are big names now, playing small roles in this film, such as Heather Graham and Sarah Michelle Gellar. It is a nice idea having a film within a film and things don’t get complicated, which is good. Fans of Scream will be pleasantly pleased with this film. ...

''Never sleep again..'' A Nightmare on Elm Street

Advantages: Clever Original /Great Slasher /Horror
Disadvantages: None worth mentioning

...even though the film is a certificate 18. From what I could gather back then, from the way that kids were trying to scare the hell out of each other while re-telling bits of the movie,Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund) was a very bad and scary character from a horror movie which it seemed only the 'cool' kids of the class were either allowed to have seen or were brave enough to watch sneekily behind their parents backs. I however, being the sort of ...
...back just incase it had a bad word or mild violence etc ... was not ever gonna get near a movie like this , and to be honest, all the other kids talking about 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' probably scared me enough into not wanting to see it back then at age 10. I spotted this Brand New 2 disc special edition on eBay for £2.99, so of course I snapped it up. So finally at age 29 I was able to see this movie for the first time. For some reason I had ...

Werewolf hell

Advantages: Entertaining enough, funny at times
Disadvantages: Silly, confusing, odd characters

Orphaned brother and sister, Jimmy and Ellie, are involved in a car accident. On trying to help the driver of the other car, they witness her being dragged away by some kind of animal. Even worse, they both receive scratches from said animal, which, Jimmy later finds out, is likely to be a werewolf. Both of them start going through some strange alterations; even worse, it appears that people involved with them are also affected. In order to get their ...
...the werewolf. But just who is the werewolf in his or her everyday guise? And even if they do find out who it is, will they be able to do anything about it? The fact that this film is directed by Wes Craven was an immediate draw - I've enjoyed most of his films on one level or another. I'm also not averse to the odd film about werewolves. Unfortunately, this 2005 film has a lot of plot flaws. It isn't a terrible film, but I'm certainly not surprised ...
