littlt shop of horrors

Advantages: a good fiolm for the whole family.
Disadvantages: its abit old nowadays

Delightful film version of the Off Broadway triumph based on the Roger Corman black comedy, carried off beautifully here by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken's memorable tunes. The plot of the film is A nerdish florist finds his chance for success and romance with the help of a giant man-eating plant who demands to be fed.The plant seems to have a craving for blood and soon begins to sing for his supper (the voice of Levi Stubbs). Soon enough, Seymour ...

a great family film

Advantages: funny and a must-see
Disadvantages: may not be suitable for younger children

...and although I do enjoy the Rick Moranis remake, I do adore this version. Steve Martin is brilliant in the newer one, but Jack Nicholson rivals him for comedy performance in the original. Behind the comedic plot of a giant-talking-man-eating plant that needs more meat as it grows bigger and bigger, the story is rather sad, as poor Seymour tries his best to satisy Audrey ll (the plant) and the girl of his dreams Audrey. A few laughs are definate with ...

3 Classic Horror Movies from the Past

Advantages: Engaging Story Lines
Disadvantages: Lack of special effects due to production period

...the genre of horror, these 3 classics can bring enjoyment to all those that appreciate horror of high quality. With the use of compelling storylines and gruesome images, the viewer is left always anxious at what would come next - that's how true horror began to develop. Through these elements, those who watch it forget the fanciful special effects that present day cinema offers and is taken in by this collection's creative brilliance. All 3 movies ...
...plot lines and cinematic professionalism. "Little Shop of Horrors" focusses more on the "horrible" part of horror movies, whereas "The Bat" proves as having more of a psychological effect on the viewers. "The Bride of the Monster" is for all those who are interested in the horror genre as a whole - one of the movies that inspired future horror producers. ...

Old Style Horror

Advantages: Good story and great look
Disadvantages: Might be a bit tame for today's gore fest lovers

...to talk about one of the all time great horror stars Vincent Price. His career spanned many decades from studio actor in the 30's, 40's to film baddie in the 50's and to being the star of many horror films in the 60's and 70's. Many will remember him as the voiceover in the famous 'Thriller' video by Michael Jackson or more recently playing the creator of Edward Scissorhands, one of his last roles. The 60's was probably his best creative period ...
...These included 'The Fall Of The House of Usher' (1960), 'The Pit and the Pendulum' (1961), 'The Tomb of Ligeia' (1965) and 'The Raven' (1963). Apart from being directed by Corman and starring Price what connects all these films is that they are all adaptations of Edgar Allan Poe stories. 'The Masque of the Red Death' made in 1964 continued this trend and is probably the best of the collaborations between Price and Corman. THE STORY "The "Red Death" ...

"You are about to enter hell"

Advantages: Good, hammy fun. Vincent Price!
Disadvantages: Difficult to buy in high street shops

Not to be confused with the 1990 film of the same name, this film from 1961 is set in 16th Century Spain and is loosely based on the Edgar Allan Poe story of the same name. In the book, which is a short story, a man is being tortured and is waiting to die as the pendulum swings back and forth. We are reading his last thoughts. This film, however, is very different. The plot seems to be a mixture of "The Pit and the Pendulum", "The Cask of Amontillado" ...
...ridiculous time of night! The film stars Vincent Price as Don Nicholas Medina (he also plays his own father, Sebastian Medina at one point). The basic story is that Francis Barnard (John Kerr) is visiting Medina to find out what has happened to his sister Elizabeth (Barbara Steele), who is married to Medina. He learns that she was obsessed by the old torture chamber in her husband's gloomy castle and seemingly died of fright. The growing apparent ...
