Overblown and gothic fun

Advantages: Brilliant performance by Gary Oldman
Disadvantages: Terrible performance by Keanu Reeves

Bram Stoker would have been amazed if he knew that the stories his mother told him while he was sick in bed, would grow into one of the biggest myths and moneyspinners of the 20th century. Coppola's film is a gothic, sumptuous and rather overblown version of the novel. As for 'faithful' - I don't remember a bit where Lucy runs through the garden wearing a red curtain only to be shagged senseless by a bison. Or the bit at the beginning where Vlad ...

He's quite stunning in the role and you do feel for him. (Not like the book at all really where the Count doesn't actually appear that much and when he does, he's a red-eyed stinky breathed monster). Review of Bram Stoker's Dracula (DVD)

A thriller in outer space!

Advantages: Interesting mix of Horror, suspense and Sci-Fi
Disadvantages: None that I can think of.

...survivors discover that a nearby supernova is on the point of exploding (Do they explode??). I wouldn´t rate this film as one of the best I´ve seen but it maintains really well a sense of mystery and suspense. The interplay between the characters is good. The ending is a nice surprise. Well worth watching, especially if like me you got it in a bargain pack of 3 DVDs for 5 pounds in my local video shop. I found the acting good for the type of story ...
...story was strong on suspense and mystery and didn´t need many effects, so if you´re looking for hat skip this. There are some outakes on the DVD that are so FUNNY. If ther had done the film with these scenes you wouldd have laughed your head off. Defintely a good decision to cut them. The director´s comments and the making of are interesting. Again, entertaining sci-fi thriller well worth a look but don´t expect fireworks or deep philosphical dialogue. ...

Great collection of Roger Corman films

Advantages: 3 great films for a budget price
Disadvantages: Picture quality not too good

Scary Movie, tons of laugh, suspense and hotties.

Advantages: funny, thrilling, exciting, suspense, and fun all the way in this masterpiece
Disadvantages: some violence, drug usage and gore with a bit of sexuality and vulgarity
