Bubba Ho-Tep review
Advantages: Original story, good chemistry between the actors Disadvantages: None
Bubba Ho-Tep is a comedy horror movie directed by Don Coscarelli (who also directed all four "Phantasm" films) and stars the legend that is Bruce Campbell!
Campbell plays Elvis, the actual, real Elvis. It seems he switched places with a look-alike (also played by Campbell) because he got bored of all the glitz and glamour and wanted to get back to his roots. Unfortunately the contract he drew up was destroyed and he had an accident that threw out ... ...back, and now spends his day in an old folk's home. He teams up with Jack (Ossie Davis), a fellow resident who believes that he is John F. Kennedy and that his skin was dyed black. Together they investigate the recent spate of deaths in their home, and find out it may be to do with an ancient Egyptian mummy, as you do. As no-one else believes them these two old codgers have to take on the entity themselves, regardless of their capabilities.

i couldnt see the woods for the trees.
Advantages: not as long as some rubbish films Disadvantages: still too long
...bad attempt at psychological horror. The story begins when neglected teenager Heather Fasulo (played by Agnes Bruckner) is left at a remote boarding school for girls only, guess where? Right in the middle of the woods! The school is governed by the wicked headmistress Ms Traverse (played by Patricia Clarkson) she and the staff are nothing more than wicked people hiding a wicked secret.
Heather is tormented by her class mates and staff alike and ... ...parents other than to ask the staff to, who of course do not. When students start to disappear, Heather realises that there is something very wrong with this place and as her visions start at nights she becomes even more terrified, seeing things in her sleep that she cannot explain.
One thing`s for sure, she is very much alone here and someone knows what’s going on but no one is saying. She eventually makes friends with one of her class mates and ...

Low Budget ‘Slasher’ Film fights Mediocrity
Advantages: Good central story with well played bad guy. Disadvantages: Low production values, story drags, weak dialogue.
MANIAC COP (1988)
Tagline: “You have the right to remain silent. Forever.”
A series of horrific murders have occurred on the streets of New York. They appear related. Witnesses identify the killer as wearing a police officer’s uniform. Officer Jack Forrest (Bruce Campbell) suddenly becomes the prime suspect with even his wife doubting him. With the help of love interest Theresa Mallory (Laurene Landon) and detective Frank McCrae (Tom Atkins) he ... ...is Robert Z’Dar as the maniac cop that steals the show. His strong physical presence combined with the image of the starched, authoritarian police uniform creates a very foreboding character. The very idea of fearing police officers late at night leaves a lasting impression.
Larry Cohen’s (Phone Booth and a multitude of trashy low budget horror flicks) script does contain a strong central premise, which slowly reveals itself throughout the film. ...

Bloody Awful
Advantages: The DVD is cheap Disadvantages: Story, dialogue, acting, special features
...predictions are not always true. Intruder transpires to be a yawn a minute horror tale in which a group of late night supermarket workers are stalked by an unknown assailant. The problem with Intruder is that its just nothing new, it steals ideas from The Friday The 13th movies, uses named cast in order to add a touch of class to a very low budget and pointless film. There is a bit of humour, which really is not funny at all, but seems to think it ... ...off is just awful, there is no bonding with characters or their tedious acting. The storylines are tied together with the tiniest pieces of string. Then when all hell does break loose its on the whole rather pointless, and worse still they try to keep the killers identity secret, but at the same time developing a pathetic plot that makes it obvious exactly who the killer is.
The sets and fashions look dated and I suspect that's down to the fact ...

The perfect modulation of Horror and Comedy.
Advantages: Improves on the original is nearly everyway. Bruce Campbell is the man!. A trumendous blend of genres. Disadvantages: Your mother might not like it...
...plaudits and cult status THE EVIL DEAD gained after it's release way back in 1981 it was certainly not a movie for everyone (your mom for example). So the movie wasn't exactly a blockbuster and Sam Raimi was still stuck making low budget flicks. So when the studio decided to give him the modest sum of 3 million dollars to make EVIL DEAD 2 he chose to make it less gory and more humorous. An idea that worked surprisingly well, not only did it take ... ...it is common misconception that EVIL DEAD 2 is a remake of THE EVIL DEAD. The truth is that this is indeed a sequel but because Raimi couldn't get the right's to show a re-cap of the first film he shot a simplified 5 minute version of the whole of the first movie and stuck it at the front of this one. Instead of Ash (Campbell) and his 3 friend's, it's just him and his girlfriend Laura who show up at the start of the film. Laura is possessed and attacks ...
