Scream... it broke all the rules.
Advantages: Unpredictable. Good performances. Witty Disadvantages: can be gory in parts
Scream (1996) was the one that broke all the rules and revitalized how the audience viewed horror/slasher movies as Kevin Williamson's screenplay and Wes Craven's direction found, and used, the satire in the genre. Throughout the film there are a lot of 'red herrings' to throw the audience of track which makes it interesting rather that the usual predictability of this type of film. Some of the characters included:
Casey Becker - (Drew Barrymore): ... ...credits of the film by the killer wearing a white mask, the killed is then known as ghostface. The mask is warn throughout the film to prevent the killers identity being revealled. Caseys gutted body is found by her parents hanging from the neck on a tree in the garden.
Sidney Prescott - (Neve Campbell): Sidney is affected by the rape and murder of her mother Maureen almost a year before and this has an affect on her relationship with boyfriend ...

A psychological horror to remember
Advantages: Acting, direction, effective remake Disadvantages: Nothing really
...welcome one for many.
Dark Water is a very aurally effective film, with the eerie score and elements of suspense and psychological chill adding to the horror nature of it rather than a gory or freakish sense of horror. Similarly, there are many parts of the film which merely serve to heighten ever so slightly the already present tension, and you would be forgiven for 'waiting' for something to happen for much of the film.
And yet, this is its appeal. ... ...renting his run down and dark and dingy appartment, preying on a weakened state of mind in order to close the deal.
It's not long before strange events relating to the appartment directly above them start to happen, in particular involving a large damp patch of water that seems to drip incessantly through the ceiling into Dahlia's bedroom. As she looks deeper into the above appartment's previous tenants, she realises that there is a bit of a mystery ...

PMS Can Be A Devil
Advantages: Disturbing, chilling atmosphere Disadvantages: Not all it's cracked up to be; terrible special effects, some laughable bits
...beginning to drastically differ from the sweet young girl she once was. When doctors examine Regan they find that she turns violent and screams profanities at them which she has never done before. I wasn’t around when The Exorcist was first released back in 1973 but have heard numerous things about the film ... ...to watch the film but have always been hesitant due to all the harrowing things I’ve heard about it. The film has been named ‘The Scariest Film Of All Time’… fitting? I still don’t know. I have heard about people committing suicide after seeing the film but curiosity got the better of me and surely 36 years after it’s initial release the film wouldn’t be able to achieve the same shock factor would it?
That I can’t effectively answer, after seeing ...
