Valentine the Slasher?
Advantages: some pretty faces in the film Disadvantages: poor acting, easy to guess who the killer is
...him at the high school Valentine Ball and being cruelly rejected by all of them bar one, Dorothy, who is slightly chubby (but this is USA slightly chubby means she’s seen by all as really fat), who goes under the stage and has a bit of a kissing session with him till some other kids see them and she claims he forced himself on her. The other mean kids pour some gunk all over him and you realise this is why the kid turns into a bit of a psycho! Fast ... ...to the house where the Valentine party is taking place and the victims are being killed off very rapidly but his attendance (or rather lack of it) is never evident. I just thought it was a bit weird to show the scene of him calling to say he was on his way and then… nothing! Can’t go into more detail about the climax obviously as I don’t want to spoil the ending of the film – although I guessed correctly pretty early on as to who the killer was. ...

Have A Little Faith in Buffy
Advantages: Great storylines, great new characters Disadvantages: A couple of poor episodes
Season three saw Buffy the Vampire Slayer really getting into its stride. With more complex plots, the characters grew as much as the show itself. I don't want to repeat the general information I put into my review of seasons one and two, so I'll just jump straight into reviewing the characters and episodes. Check my profile for my reviews of the first two seasons!
--Characters--
The mainstays from seasons one and two return as our fearless gang ... ...end of last season saw Buffy running away from home, and the season three opener picks up a couple of months later. Buffy's in LA, working as a waitress in a diner - but is there something more sinister going on with LA's disadvantaged youths? This is a rather weak start to the season, but the episode has its good moments.
Episode Two: Dead Man's Party
Buffy's friends decide to throw her a welcome home party, but as always in Sunnydale: it's not ...

The City of Angels
Advantages: Some very good episodes Disadvantages: Some very bad episodes
...Angel. Whilst I don't think Angel holds a candle to Buffy, it's still a very good show and gives you the other side of the story to some of the Buffy plots.
--Investigating Angel--
A little bit about the show itself before I get into the review of the season one box set. Angel the series is a spin-off show from the very successful Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Like the title suggests, the show revolves around Angel - the vampire with a soul, who is ... ...Buffy's season three, Angel left Sunnydale and headed to LA - which is where this series takes place. He's only been there a short while when he accrues a gang and opens a business - Angel Investigations - who aim to help the helpless.
That's the basic premise of the show, for the first season at least. As with all ongoing shows, the plots and characters become more and more complex as time progresses. --Characters--
The lead character is, obviously, ...

Becoming Buffy
Advantages: Great characters, an excellent story arc, fantastic season finale Disadvantages: A couple of bad episodes
Buffy the Vampire Slayer really found its feet in season two. It progressed from being a monster of the week show, to a show with a serious storyline, character and plot arcs.
I don't want to repeat the general information I put into my review of season one, so I'll just jump straight into reviewing the characters and episodes. Read my review of season one here: http://dvd.ciao.co.uk/BuffyTheVampireSlayerSeason1CollectionDVDRev iew5767154
... ...out of her shell, and Buffy grows up a lot as she deals with the hand life has dealt her.
There are some wonderful new characters in this season, amongst them the infamous Spike. The bleach blonde vampire is played by James Marsters with aplomb and despite the slightly dodgy English accent is a fantastic character. Accompanying Spike is the insane Drusilla; another English character played by an American - in this case Juliet Landau. Spike and Dru ...

Angel battles his inner demon
Advantages: Lots more familiar characters from the Buffy universe Disadvantages: Some of the special features are tedious
Plot
In season 2 Angel moves away from its Buffy origins and concentrates more on what makes Angel himself interesting - the fact that he's a vampire with a soul and is, therefore, constantly battling his inner demon and struggling for redemption.
Given the destruction of their original office building at the end of season 1, the team (Angel, Wesley and Cordelia) move into the abandoned Hyperion hotel, which gives them much more room for ... ...before.
The team at Angel Investigations are joined by Charles Gunn, a tough street kid with a history of fighting vampires and once again are battling evil wherever they find it and the 'Big Bad' - the lawyers for the supernaturally challenged, Wolfram and Hart, who bring Darla (the gal who vamped Angel) back from the dead to turn him bad.
Another new character is the green singing demon, Lorne, who comes in handy when the whole team is transported ...
