Thank god I could never solve a rubik's cube!!!
Advantages: cheap, atmospheric, terrifying Disadvantages: starting to look a little dated
WE WILL TEAR YOUR SOUL APART!!!! Generally speaking, the Eighties were not good to the horror film. Films made in this decade were either comedy horror's like evil dead, or films that were designed to make you jump, like nightmare on Elm Street. Most times, films like this were not truly scary. More often than not, it was the orchestral soundtrack that made you jump, rather than a particularly scary plot or effect. There were, however, occasional ... ...possible to pull the proverbial needle from the Eighties haystack. One such needle, is Clive Barker's directorial debut, Hellraiser. Barker was not well known. Previously he had written three short horror storybooks called the 'Books of blood'. Although highly enjoyable in their own right, they are more notable for the quote that was published on the front cover. " I have seen the future of horror, and his name is Clive Barker ". When Something like ...

Advantages: Clive on the Big Screen Disadvantages: Clive on the Big Screen
...is at the beginning.
Lord of Illusions is based on one of Clives many short stories, this one being "The Last Illusion" from the amazing Books of Blood. When i first heard of this film i was overjoyed that Clive had once again been brought to the screen. The short story is a blessing to read as Clive once again takes us into the depths of our imagination and pulls out ideas that only he could conceive of. The film however just lacks that certain ... ...Bakula playing the detective Harry D'Amour alongside Famke Janssen as Dorothea Swann.
The story is a 'Faustian' tale set against the backdrop of a religious cult. Confused ? Well its easy to see why. Simply put Faust sold his soul to the devil and the devil came collecting. In this version Philip Swann is part of a religious cult and "sells his soul" for real magic. He becomes an illusionist and uses his new found skill to become one of the worlds ...

It can't tear anything apart. Can it?
Advantages: Its a bona-fide scary movie. Disadvantages: Too scary?
I watched Hellraiser for the first time last night and for a horror-lover like myself, this was long overdue. Perhaps it was down to the fact that i put it off until i could muster a moments peace to dim the lights and watch it alone. This, in hindsight, would prove a harrowing plan. It takes little time in setting the scene and its clear the foundations are being laid bare for the onslaught of sheer terror that ensues. Never has a film had me so ...

Hellraiser Puzzle Box
Advantages: The fist three films plus an extras disc Disadvantages: Very Few, Difficult to fit in my DVD case
A must have for any Hellraiser fans, Excellently presented in the 'box', tons of really good extras.
Very good special effects for its time with excellent custume design, from the twisted mind of Clive Barker.
I personally enjoyed Hellraiser 2 better than the original and the storylines are original, however Hellraiser 3 brings on a new twist to the story (dont forget to see Hellraiser 4: BLOODLINE).

Death Note Movie Version (DVD)
Advantages: totally worth to collect Disadvantages: if you not a DN fan or movie freak, then you will not really interested in it
Death Note (デスノート, Desu NÅto?) is a series of two live-action Japanese films released in 2006 and based on the Death Note manga and anime series by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata. The films primarily center on a university student who decides to rid the world of evil with the help of a supernatural notebook that kills anyone whose name is written in it. The two films were directed by ShÅ«suke Kaneko, produced by Nippon Television, and distributed ... ...as the "Death Note". The Death Note's instructions claim that if a person's name is written within it while picturing that person's face, that person shall die. Light is initially skeptical of the notebook's authenticity, but after experimenting with it, he realizes that the Death Note is real. Soon he is visited by the Note's original owner, a shinigami named Ryuk. After that meeting, Light seeks to become "the God of the New World" by passing his ...
