Supernatural Thriller from Dean koontz
Advantages: Some Genuine scares and good FX Disadvantages: The ending is lacking
...on Dean Koontz's thriller novel, Phantoms hosts a great cast in a particularly mediocre sci-fi thriller. It begins when a couple of sisters (Rose McGowen and Joanna Going) travel to a lone country town to visit family. Upon arrival they find that the town is empty. No one on the streets, cars are stranded in the alleys, the stores are closed, houses empty. They search for a lone citizen, and find two, well.....sorda. They find the rotting heads of ... ...around, they find more bodies, all drained of all of there blood. As soon as they begin to think there is no hope, Deputy "Dooright" shows up. The town sheriff (Ben Affleck hot off of Good Will Hunting) and his deputy (Liev Schrieber hot off of Scream 2) join the sisters to fight whatever this unmentionable killing force is. The one person who can identify with the problem is a trashy tabloid reporter, played by none other than Peter O'toole. His ...

Crash and Burn (1990)
Charles Band and David DeCoteau are two of the more infamous low budget producers from the 80s and 90s, giving us titles like Dollman, Robot Jox, Puppet Master and Trancers. Charles Band also directs this futuristic thriller, which has been often overlooked since it's straight to video release in 1990.
Taking place in the year 2030, Crash and Burn sets the scene very well. Using a brief stop at a gas station and having the ... ...that after an enormous economy crash the government has banned the use of computers and robots by civilians in an attempt to repair the damaged world economy. Global warming is seemingly out of control, with thermal storms able to create enough heat to kill anyone caught unprotected, and UV rays are a constant danger. Trancers Review
Advantages: Entertaining Disadvantages: Is a bit dated
Trancers is low budget sci-fi film from the 80's starring a young, and very attractive, Helen Hunt. It is set in a futuristic Los Angeles where Jack Deth (Tim Thomerson) a cop/bounty hunter, is tracking down and killing Trancers - people who have been turned into zombie like creatures by an evil mastermind named Martin Whistler.
Whistler was thought to be dead, but we find out he's alive but in a completely different time - 1985. His plan is to ... ...Deth has other plans. He travels back, using the body of one of his ancestors, to try and stop Whistler. But when he arrives, he finds out there are already Trancers. Aided by Lena (Helen Hunt) he must find the descendants Whistler wishes to kill and hopefully, kill Whistler once and for all.
This film is actually a rare thing: A low budget sci-fi film from the 80's that is actually quite good. The costume and effects department do an excellent ...

A weak follow-up
Advantages: Some good one liners Disadvantages: Music, script, acting, poor follow up, ...
Trancers 2, is a weak follow-up to the original ,"Trancers".
At the start of the film, the scene is set by Jack Deth narrating: Talks about how he spent a lot of time wandering around, knowing a killer quake is comming in the future of 2063, ... blah, blah, blah....
The first film was not all that bad but the actors that were in the first film look weary and board. While Jack Deth sounds fine doing the voice over narration, in the film itself he ... ...really state-of-the-art, even for this era.
The music in the film was electronic/synthesizer and anoying.
Trancers 2 may be somewhat watchable for some Sci-Fi viewers. Its the sort of film thats worth watching on a Saturday night if you've got no friends or nothing better to do. ...

Tracers 2.
Advantages: A good Sci-Fi movie. Disadvantages: None.
Trancers 2
Let's say right from the start that this is a very enjoyable Sci-Fi film.
A tracer is a human automaton, a bit like a programmable zombie, got it?
We are six years on from Trancers 1 and our hero Jack Deth, (yeah I know, Jack Death), begins to suspect that they are back!
He becomes suspicious of 'Greenworld', an organisation which appears to be in favour of helping the planet and homeless people. In fact they are kidnapping ... ...battle against not only the Trancers but the underworld and other tricky characters from the future.
Perhaps at this point I should mention that jack originally came back through time to help stop the Trancers being invented here and also to stop people from the future planting some here.
A very good sequel which develops on successfully from the first movie. The actors give good performances and have good dialog to work with.
This film is a fun ...
