Advantages: Beautifully filmed, intriguing Disadvantages: Some will find it too slow
Oskar is a twelve year old boy who is bullied at school and generally over-looked by everyone who knows him. Then he meets a young girl of his own age who has apparently moved in next door. Her name is Eli and she lives on blood. The man she lives with, Hakan, provides her with the blood by killing locals, but there is a hunt on for the murderer and Eli could well be at risk. Her friendship with Oskar develops and she helps him to stand up for himself, ... ...longer able to help Eli. Can Oskar continue where Hakan left off? And will Oskar's bully try to get his revenge? Oskar is played by Kare Hedebrant, who is really quite superb in the role, simply because he comes across as being a complete innocent. Advantages: Very suspenseful at times Disadvantages: Dragging the interim moments softens the horror blow
For the most part The Messengers is quite a good horror film. It has quite a few jumpy moments, some strong special effects, and some decent acting. The only problem with it is that it doesn't really do too much that isn't predictable, and when you get predictability in a horror film, then the tension has to be constant and tight.
The truth is that at points it is very slow, and while this is naturally meant to extend the impetus with the horror ... ...bit more, and softens the blow if anything.
Brothers Danny and Oxide Pang directed the film, and brought to it a certain sense of 'Jeez, did you see that!!!' with their plot. The Solomons move to a deserted farmhouse with the intention of growing sunflowers as a living. Advantages: Hick Accents, Soundtrack Disadvantages: Weak, loose storyline, Lack of zombies and gore

I kept having to go over the loose storyline in my head until the plot made sense, and as soon as I thought i knew what was going on, the story went on to focus on some apparent addicts on a detox road trip. It looked promising when they turned up at the trailer park, and the killer lady greets them and takes them in. ...tale of the same name, Death Note is an inventive and impressive film which brings a whole new meaning to the carrying out of justice. Asian cinema often impresses me, and this is no exception.
When law student Light comes across a notebook entitled Death Note, he soon discovers that anyone whose name is written on the inside will die. He then starts ridding the world of criminals who have escaped the justice system, murdering them under the name ... ...any film.
Death Note is taken from a Manga series, and there is an element of Manga retained here, in the form of the Death Note's explanation. It is the notebook of the God of Death, and he accidentally dropped it. Light picked it up, and as anyone who touches it can see the God, Light therefore could as well.
