He's Behind You... Again!

Advantages: Funny, scary at times, tension
Disadvantages: Lacks the atmosphere the first film had, unintetionally funny, becomes a bit silly

...crazed Michael Myers did on Halloween of 1978, after trying to kill teenager Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) he seemingly met his end after being shot by his doctor (Donald Pleasance). However when Michael is nowhere to be seen it would seem that Halloween is far from over for Laurie and Doctor Loomis. Laurie is rushed to hospital after her ordeal with Michael whilst Doctor Loomis continues on in his hunt for Michael before more people are made ...
...her at the hospital… Halloween II is a direct sequel to 1978’s Halloween. Halloween II was released in 1981 but was set on the same night back in 1978 straight after Michael is shot. You’d think that three years on there might be some continuity issues but it seemed to me as though Rick Rosenthal had got everything right in this film, even it’s star Jamie Lee Curtis didn’t look as though she’d aged more than a day. If you’re planning on watching ...

Beware of Mummy

Advantages: The lovely Rachel Weisz
Disadvantages: Only appears in the last two

The Mummy was first on the scene, in this epic trilogy set in 1920's Egyptian that follows the exploits of a group of archaeologists led by adventurer Rick O'Connell (Brendan Fraser) that discovers the mummified body of Imhotep, an Egyptian priest who was cursed for falling in love with the Pharoah's mistress. Naturally they accidentally resurrect him thus ensuring a rocket ride battle for their survival in a bid to halt the mummy to reclaim his ...
...Although a dark comedy, the balance between the horror and the comedy is so well placed that it's a fun ride for anyone who watches it. Fun performances from Fraser and Rachel Weisz add to the tongue-in-cheek Saturday matinee appeal boosted by modern special effects can only improve on the Raiders of the lost Arch genre. . Screenwriter/director Stephen Sommers has taken license on this format and extended belief with flesh-eating beetles and battling ...

A Stale Offering

Advantages: It filled in some spare time
Disadvantages: Too much was left unexplained

If i had to choose a genre of film which was my out and out favourite, it would be without question horror, especially the horror films that challenge your mind rather than an out and out gore fest. Ages ago, my wife bought me 'Bless The Child', but for some reason I had not got around to watching it until last night. It seems to one of the films in a long line of God versus Satan played out through a special person who is 'The Chosen One', such ...
...he took on Gabriel Byrne in the enjoyable 'End Of Days'. This time, the person who is the chosen one is a child, which is a slightly new approach to what is becoming a little bit of a tired subject to bring to film time and time again, and it does not borrow from 'The Sixth Sense' which was a relief. This film is based on a book, which I am sure is an excellent read by an author called Cathy Cash Spellman, and has been produced by one of the people ...

The perfect modulation of Horror and Comedy.

Advantages: Improves on the original is nearly everyway. Bruce Campbell is the man!. A trumendous blend of genres.
Disadvantages: Your mother might not like it...

...plaudits and cult status THE EVIL DEAD gained after it's release way back in 1981 it was certainly not a movie for everyone (your mom for example). So the movie wasn't exactly a blockbuster and Sam Raimi was still stuck making low budget flicks. So when the studio decided to give him the modest sum of 3 million dollars to make EVIL DEAD 2 he chose to make it less gory and more humorous. An idea that worked surprisingly well, not only did it take ...
...it is common misconception that EVIL DEAD 2 is a remake of THE EVIL DEAD. The truth is that this is indeed a sequel but because Raimi couldn't get the right's to show a re-cap of the first film he shot a simplified 5 minute version of the whole of the first movie and stuck it at the front of this one. Instead of Ash (Campbell) and his 3 friend's, it's just him and his girlfriend Laura who show up at the start of the film. Laura is possessed and attacks ...

Drag Me to Hell- Will drag you to hell with its weak story!

Advantages: Decent performance from Alison Lohman, good visuals at times.
Disadvantages: Weak story, illogical writing.not scary at all.

Director Sam Raimi's Drag Me to Hell stars Alison Lohman and Justin Long and is a horror film that made much buzz.I am not a fan of horror flicks and hardly watch any film of this genre. After hearing great things about the film i finally decided to give it a watch. And boy,was I disappointed! Christine works in a bank and is vying for the assistant manager's position when an old lady comes to her for her loan extension. When his boss tells her she ...
...to work as the assistant manager, she rejects the old lady's extension against her own will. What follows is a dreadful series of events after she is been cursed by the old lady. The film is all about the curse and how she tries to get rid of it.The devil wants to take away her soul and she has to somehow think of getting away from it. Between all this, the screen space is divided between her boyfriend and a couple of fortune tellers who try to help ...
