Tremors

Advantages: Good humorous movie with a silly creature
Disadvantages: a bit sloppy on the special effects

...as the reason for the tremors around the desert are unearthed, leading to one of the weirdest creatures ever to grace our screens. The acting is a bit questionable and the special effect team need to go back to school but if you don't take the movie as a true thriller/horror, more a comedy/thriller type, then this can be an entertaining movie all round. Would I recommend this movie….? Well yes, why not… It is entertaining if a little on the silly ...

Long Time Dead

Advantages: Scary
Disadvantages: Non Memorable soundtrack

After reading previous reviews, I have to say I don't agree with their comments. Yes Joe Absolom is in the film although it took me a while to remember where I had seen him previously. (eastenders). Rest of the actors I can honestly say I had never seen before but that didn't matter. I thought the film was really scary. So bad that I had to walk round my house turning the lights on before I entered a room. Believe me I don't scare easily. There ...

There's a sting in this tale!

Advantages: Exciting, action-packed
Disadvantages: Bit too much for one film, flaws/holes in the plot

...as I had recently seen the third and first of the films, decided it was best to review them in order! Firstly a piece of advice, although I will try my absolute best not to plonk in any big spoilers here (with regard to the first film - this will be hard) I think it is best not to see this review until you've watched the first film. It should make sense, but it's always better to do things in sequence! I really enjoyed the first film, and so when ...
...- if you've not seen the first film, read this bit** Evelyn Carnahan (Rachel Weisz), the clumsy librarian and her brother, Jonathan found an unusual, star shaped item inside a tomb, decided to investigate and went on an exploring journey. On their way, they met Rick O'Connell (Brendan Fraser), a prisoner, who agreed to help in return for his freedom. But there were other Americans on a treasure hunt and between the two gangs they managed to awaken ...

The people under the stairs

Advantages: great comedy and a bit of horror
Disadvantages: none

...lot of emphasis more towards the comedy). Although it has some very comical scenes the film does touches on the lines of child abduction and brutality, (however, there are no real graphic abuse scenes)' **BRIEF PLOT** From the slums of a city in the U.S. a young boy called 'Poindexter', (played brilliantly by Brandon Adams), nicknamed 'FOOL', had just learnt that he and his family were about to be evicted from there home for being a late with their ...
...the family are destined to be thrown onto the streets by their evil landlords, the Robesons, (played by Everett McGill as 'dad' and Wendy Robie as 'mum') However, 'Fools' elder sister Ruby, (played by Kelly Jo Minter) is dating a street wise wanna-be gangster Leroy, (played by Ving Rhames) and Leroy has a plan to save the family from eviction. There are rumours that inside the house belonging to the Robesons is a stash of gold coins, and a mountain ...

Zombies - The truth!

Advantages: Interesting fact based horror.
Disadvantages: Very slow start

...one man's nightmarish journey into the eerie and deadly world of voodoo. Bill Pullman (Spaceballs, Independence Day) stars as a Harvard anthropologist who is sent to Haiti to retrieve a strange powder that is said to have the ability to turn people into zombies. In his quest for the drug the cynical scientist enters the rarely seen netherworld of the walking dead, blood rites and ancient curses. Not your typical zombie movie, "The Serpent and the ...
...are instead human vegetables under the influence of drugs. This may sound a little boring…and it is, but its not all that bad…Ok so it is. One tiny quibble that I have is that director Wes Craven seems to be more interested in putting across the facts of the true story rather than the horror. Having said this there are a few terrifying moments, including the scene where Pullman is buried alive with a huge tarantula on his face. Oh and there is the ...
