Becoming Buffy
Review of Buffy The Vampire Slayer - Series 2 - Comeplete DVD by amytheduck

Advantages: Great characters, an excellent story arc, fantastic season finale
Disadvantages: A couple of bad episodes

Buffy the Vampire Slayer really found its feet in season two. It progressed from being a monster of the week show, to a show with a serious storyline, character and plot arcs. I don't want to repeat the general information I put into my review of season one, so I'll just jump straight into reviewing the characters and episodes. ...out of her shell, and Buffy grows up a lot as she deals with the hand life has dealt her. There are some wonderful new characters in this season, amongst them the infamous Spike. The bleach blonde vampire is played by James Marsters with aplomb and despite the slightly dodgy English accent is a fantastic character. Accompanying Spike is the insane Drusilla; another English character played by an American - in this case Juliet Landau. Spike and Dru ... Read review

The Glory of Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Review of Buffy The Vampire Slayer - Series 5 - Complete DVD by amytheduck

Advantages: Great plot arc, great characters and storylines
Disadvantages: None

Season five of Buffy the Vampire Slayer is bigger, better and more ambitious than any that came before it. With what appears to be an undefeatable opponent, a new little sister and her mother's illness, Buffy has a lot to deal with. I don't want to repeat the general information I put into my review of seasons one, two, three and four, so I'll just jump straight into reviewing the characters and episodes. Check my profile for my reviews of the first ...
...--Episodes-- Episode One: Buffy vs. Dracula The episode title is pretty self-explanatory: Dracula comes to town to seek out the famous vampire Slayer, and soon begins to hold Buffy under his thrall. This episode begins one of the threads that runs through this season - the idea of what exactly a slayer is. There's also a bit of a surprise at the end of the episode... Episode Two: Real Me Buffy's sister Dawn is introduced properly in this episode, ... Read review

Advantages: Well packaged, good extras, lovely pictures on the packaging
Disadvantages: None I can find as yet!

...pain of watching him torment Buffy and watch her adjust to losing her love. Single characters stand out, such as Drusilla, expertly played by Juliet Landau - she is haunting, evil, seductive and yet so very very frighteningly psychopathic, its very very well done. Season 2 see's things maturing a little, the development of relationships between the characters, between Buffy and Angel, Buffy and Giles, Giles and Ms Calender, Xander and Cordelia and ...
...Featurettes - "Designing Buffy", A Buffy Bestiary" and "Beauty and the Beasts", showing you how they designed the look and feel of buffy, the ways they make the beasts as such. This series see's a few characters come and go, including Kendra, who is a pleasant opposite to Buffy, but still they are both Slayers. Her way of thinking in sharp contrast to the way Buffy has been taught by her own Watcher, Giles. Anthony Stewart Head brings a wonderful ... Read review

Paint The Town With Blood
Review of Inferno by sghawken

Advantages: Looks amazing
Disadvantages: Slightly puzzling and disjointed

...to say my confusion over Inferno was down to my ill-understanding of the movie but this is not the case, and sadly one I see raised in a number of reviews online. Even though the story is a little disjointed in both its cast use but in its general storytelling, the movie remains incredibly popular with Argento fans because there really is something about it. The late great Lucio Fulci believed that actors were a secondary issue when it came to film ...
...is another unusual factor about Inferno and that is in its music. Despite great collaborations with progressive rock band Goblin, and with the acclaimed composer Ennio Morricone Argento choose to go elsewhere for his music signing, heading instead this time to British rock band composer Keith Emerson of the band Emerson, Lake and Palmer. Emerson delivers a typically inspired piece of Argento music, jazzing up classical legends as well as injecting ... Read review
