Dawn of the Dead (Uncut)

Advantages: Extended runtime, previously deleted material restored
Disadvantages: Not widescreen

Although this is not mainstream viewing it is certainly one of the all time greats in terms of horror and "The Daddy" of the Zombie genre. Forget the trashy European movies such as "Flesh Eaters", if you want out and out shocks, choose the George Romero films and certainly this as a benchmark of those that followed. The 2004 remake is an excellent film but if you haven't seen this then I highly recommend it. The plot is very good, as is the acting ...
...Romero is an absolute genius as Director. The excellent Special effects are by his long time cohort Tom Savini (no CGI in those days) who also acts in the film as the leader of a gang of Hell's Angels. The Music by Goblin is also at times atmospheric and chilling. The film opens in a television studio where the remaining staff are broadcasting the whereabouts of Rescue stations to whoever is watching and it is obvious from the outset that society ...

Death Note Movie Version (DVD)

Advantages: totally worth to collect
Disadvantages: if you not a DN fan or movie freak, then you will not really interested in it

Death Note (デスノート, Desu NÅto?) is a series of two live-action Japanese films released in 2006 and based on the Death Note manga and anime series by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata. The films primarily center on a university student who decides to rid the world of evil with the help of a supernatural notebook that kills anyone whose name is written in it. The two films were directed by ShÅ«suke Kaneko, produced by Nippon Television, and distributed ...
...as the "Death Note". The Death Note's instructions claim that if a person's name is written within it while picturing that person's face, that person shall die. Light is initially skeptical of the notebook's authenticity, but after experimenting with it, he realizes that the Death Note is real. Soon he is visited by the Note's original owner, a shinigami named Ryuk. After that meeting, Light seeks to become "the God of the New World" by passing his ...

PMS Can Be A Devil

Advantages: Disturbing, chilling atmosphere
Disadvantages: Not all it's cracked up to be; terrible special effects, some laughable bits

...beginning to drastically differ from the sweet young girl she once was. When doctors examine Regan they find that she turns violent and screams profanities at them which she has never done before. Doctors decide that a physiatrist may be the best option for Regan, but when all else fails Regan’s Mother is forced to turn to the church… I wasn’t around when The Exorcist was first released back in 1973 but have heard numerous things about the film ...
...to watch the film but have always been hesitant due to all the harrowing things I’ve heard about it. The film has been named ‘The Scariest Film Of All Time’… fitting? I still don’t know. I have heard about people committing suicide after seeing the film but curiosity got the better of me and surely 36 years after it’s initial release the film wouldn’t be able to achieve the same shock factor would it? That I can’t effectively answer, after seeing ...

Gory, gritty and deliciously fun, a worthy sequel to the original

Advantages: Gritty, suspenseful and jumpy - a solid horror
Disadvantages: Ridiculous plot lines in places, a little too gory on occasions

...on a regular basis with the pap often served up by Hollywood of late, both myself and my friend went to see the first Descent film without much expectation and with only the merest of hope we may at least get the odd nervous jump and maybe a quiet giggle at what will probably be another big busted beauty running around in her well-matched knickers. We were very wrong, the original film was gritty, well-shot and was, in our opinion, one of the best ...
...they were going to follow the original film on as it had left our feisty protagonist in a rather inescapable position, however, within the first few minutes of the film we see her again – bloody but free from the cavern of terror that had claimed so many of her friends. With suspicions running high as to the fate of the young women, and with Sarah's memory a complete blank, she is coerced into returning to the caves to assist with the rescue mission ...
