It all begins again.
Advantages: First Tom Baker story. Disadvantages: Robot a bit dodgy, but it was 1974.
...2nd most important date in Doctor Who history. It was the televised debut of THE Doctor, played by Tom Baker. Following his regeneration, the Doctor has to assist UNIT (United Nations Intelligence Taskforce), and their enigmatic and old friend, Brigadier Alistair Lethbridge Stewart in helping to solve some mysterious robberies. All these robberies involve the theft of parts to build the ultimate weapon, a disintegrator gun. The robberies are a mystery, ... ...are perpertrated by a Giant Robot. The Robot was built as a peaceful machine and as it wages a campaign of theft and also murder, it begins to go mad, as the Robot was built with a Prime Directive, not to hurt anyone. Its creator Professor Kettlewell appears to be an innocent victim of the Scientific Reform Society, who are using the Robot to acheve their aims. The destruction of the World and the creation of a 'newer, better World'. The only weakness ...

A plant that does what?
Advantages: Works around its limitations, gripping story Disadvantages: The short episodes are a little irritating
This review refers specifically to the 1981 BBC adaptation of John Wyndham's novel, rather than the 1962 film. In the early 80s when I was tiny, I had to go to bed before nine o'clock. For a few weeks, this meant I could be terrified by strange creatures stalking my tv screen, but never the resolution. The fact I had to watch on a small black and white tv because the main set was designated to Coronation Street merely highlighted the scariness of ... ...story first published in 1951. The Day of the Triffids tells the story of Bill Masen, following a natural disaster and the devastating effect it has on the earth's population. For reasons that gradually become apparent, Masen has escaped the fate of the majority of the human race, but the world he is faced with is a far more uncertain and dangerous place. In addition to this natural disaster, Masen must learn to live with the omnipresent Triffids. ...

If you think your children are bad...........
Advantages: felt realistic and well shot Disadvantages: a little rushed
...a little idea as to the ending, as in it not being all hugs and fluffy bunnies unlike a lot of US horrors! So the plot! Well without giving loads away basically a family and friends go away for a stay in a house in the countryside. They bring of course their children which consist of 2 boys aged roughly 4, 8 and 2 girls aged around 6 and 9. There is also an older sister of around 16 who plays the bored teen. There is it would appear then a virus ... ...which is what lot of the films tend to do with this kind of thing, just totally evil, sadistic and manipulative which I also found to be almost amusing at time- as lets face it kids can be very good at getting what they want! This is not a long film and it all happens pretty quickly but then in all fairness if you were in that type of situation it probably wouldn't be too strung out either! Iwouldn;t say I developed much feeling for any of the actors ...
