Say Hello to the Night
Advantages: Fantastic Film with a great cast Disadvantages: Slightly dated for some people
The Lost Boys Say Hello to the Night Sleep all day Party all night It's fun to be a vampire It may be an unusual take to write a review on a film which was created in 1987, though this, I believe, is one of those classic films that live on no matter how many years have gone past. I first watched it as a teenager with one of my friends and we fell in love with it straight away and years later I finally brought it on DVD and have already watched it ... ...as good special effects for the time, they are not so much a spot on the horizon for modern day special effects, though I feel this has to be kept in mind. OUTSIDE THE LOST BOYS The Lost Boys in title was originally in reference to the Peter Pan stories by J.M.Barrie and was directed by Joel Schumacher. The cast list is a really great cast for the time and includes big names such as Kiefer Sutherland and Dianne Wiest. A large part of the movie was ...

A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 - Freddys home!
Advantages: Wes Craven returned to save the day Disadvantages: Freddy started to get cheesier
***Why watched A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors*** I originally first watched this A Nightmare in Elm Street 1, and like many other people out there I thoroughly enjoyed the film. The second film was released the following year, but unfortunately the film sucked and put me off watching any more sequels. This film was introduced in 1987 (3 years after the first), but still not long enough for me to forget awful the last one was. For once ... ...do, so I gave it a go. ***The cast*** Patricia Arquette as Kristin Parker Ken Sagoes as Kincaid Rodney Eastman as Joey Jennifer Rubin as Taryn Bradley Gregg as Phillip Ira Heiden as Will Penelope Sudrow as Jennifer Heather Langenkamp as Heather Craig Wasson as Neil Laurence Fishburne as Max Robert Englund as Freddie Krueger ***The plot*** The story kicks of 1 year after the second film (which is 6 years after the first film) with teenager Kristin ...

Reminiscent of the Living Dead...
Advantages: Decent direction Disadvantages: Poor script, bad acting
...I remember them. Return of the Living Dead part 2 (1987)
This is a very disappointing sequel. The acting is more hammy, the jokes are too obvious, the special effects are too cheesy, the characters more clichéd and they have committed what’s normally a cardinal sin of horror; the introduction of children as central characters. A feat pulled off by very few, The Shining and The Lost Boys spring to mind. But they had the resources of good actors, ... ...and Freddy from the original) return as Ed and Joey; the grave robbers. They start well but soon succumb to a lot of overacting (Lots of “wooahh , it hurts!” and the like). It seems they’ve done it all before and realise that this time it’s just a bit pants. Michael Kenworthy is Jesse, who gave a decent performance in The Blob (1988), but here is just another annoying kid. Suzanne Snyder (Weird Science 1985, Retribution 1988) is the grave robbers ...

Thank god I could never solve a rubik's cube!!!
Advantages: cheap, atmospheric, terrifying Disadvantages: starting to look a little dated
WE WILL TEAR YOUR SOUL APART!!!! Generally speaking, the Eighties were not good to the horror film. Films made in this decade were either comedy horror's like evil dead, or films that were designed to make you jump, like nightmare on Elm Street. Most times, films like this were not truly scary. More often than not, it was the orchestral soundtrack that made you jump, rather than a particularly scary plot or effect. There were, however, occasional ... ...possible to pull the proverbial needle from the Eighties haystack. One such needle, is Clive Barker's directorial debut, Hellraiser. Barker was not well known. Previously he had written three short horror storybooks called the 'Books of blood'. Although highly enjoyable in their own right, they are more notable for the quote that was published on the front cover. " I have seen the future of horror, and his name is Clive Barker ". When Something like ...
