Thank god I could never solve a rubik's cube!!!

Advantages: cheap, atmospheric, terrifying
Disadvantages: starting to look a little dated

WE WILL TEAR YOUR SOUL APART!!!! Generally speaking, the Eighties were not good to the horror film. Films made in this decade were either comedy horror's like evil dead, or films that were designed to make you jump, like nightmare on Elm Street. Most times, films like this were not truly scary. More often than not, it was the orchestral soundtrack that made you jump, rather than a particularly scary plot or effect. There were, however, occasional ...
...possible to pull the proverbial needle from the Eighties haystack. One such needle, is Clive Barker's directorial debut, Hellraiser. Barker was not well known. Previously he had written three short horror storybooks called the 'Books of blood'. Although highly enjoyable in their own right, they are more notable for the quote that was published on the front cover. " I have seen the future of horror, and his name is Clive Barker ". When Something like ...

Zoltan, Hound of Dracula - totally barking vampire flick.

Advantages: You'll spend more time laughing rather than shaking behind the sofa
Disadvantages: Weak story. Quite annoying at times.

Zoltan, Hound of Dracula (also known as Dracula's Dog) is a vampire film with a twist. The vampires in this film are dogs. Set in modern times, (the film was made in 1978), the story starts in the old country, Romania. All the vampires are dead, having been slain and entombed. Such a tomb is uncovered by the Russian military, who are carrying out excavations in the area. Not knowing what they have stumbled upon at first, a single soldier is posted ...
...the guard, Zoltan is awakened. Zoltan, a large, muscular hound (looks like a Doberman), goes on to release another vampire, a vampire slave/servant of Dracula played by Reggie Nalder (better known for playing the lead vampire in the 1970's version of Salem's Lot). The pair, without a master, become hell-bent on finding a new master, the last remaining descendant of the Dracula bloodline. Michael Drake (played by Michael Pataki), is this last remaining ...

Forget the vampires. Let the werewolves captivate you!

Advantages: Very exciting
Disadvantages: some parts of the book were ommited

...have as a boyfriend (but his body, omg O.O), and, although some parts of the book are ommited, the movie is really great, and, as a Twilight fan, I sure recommend it, and as girl I recommend because of the hot werewolves(specially Jake, without that big hair of course) ;P ...

'I'd rather have a piece of toast...and watch the evening news'

Advantages: An effective little piece of domestic horror
Disadvantages: A bit too deliberately paced for some, it seems

Despite it not actually being the end of the decade (that’s next year, grumbles the pedant), I’d like momentarily to join the serried ranks of pop culture junkies casting their eyes back over the recent past. Because, let’s be honest, the future isn’t bright enough to require the wearing of shades these days. ‘Listen... do you smell something?’ I’m old enough to remember a more sensible time. A time when judgment and consensus were gradual things, ...
...more considered conclusions. But not anymore. In an age of hype and hyperbole, shades of grey have been swiftly overwhelmed by the encroaching armies of black and white. For while the past few years have spawned a legion of Channel Four ‘100 Best…’ shows with their endless ranking lists, the media still prefers the idea that everything is either the greatest or the worst ever. Thus that same period has apparently coincided with the greatest glut ...

Blood sucking in Stockholm

Advantages: Beautifully filmed, intriguing
Disadvantages: Some will find it too slow

Oskar is a twelve year old boy who is bullied at school and generally over-looked by everyone who knows him. Then he meets a young girl of his own age who has apparently moved in next door. Her name is Eli and she lives on blood. The man she lives with, Hakan, provides her with the blood by killing locals, but there is a hunt on for the murderer and Eli could well be at risk. Her friendship with Oskar develops and she helps him to stand up for himself, ...
...longer able to help Eli. Can Oskar continue where Hakan left off? And will Oskar's bully try to get his revenge? Oskar is played by Kare Hedebrant, who is really quite superb in the role, simply because he comes across as being a complete innocent. The fact that he has pale yellow, almost white, hair and very white, milky skin just adds to the picture. He doesn't actually do very much during the course of the film, apart from look sweet and at the ...
