Advantages: gripping storyline and an all round suspence filled horror
Disadvantages: may not be able to sleep with the light off ever again!!

The Dead Walk At Dawn.

Advantages: A few more scenes which were removed on first release. This shows how the film was intended to be. It's George A. Romero's Classics
Disadvantages: Not for the Faint hearted, not alot more added.

Review of Dawn Of The Dead (Director's Cut) (DVD)

In its own way a horror classic

Advantages: Great locations, dreamlike narrative, great villain, memorable characters
Disadvantages: Lame effects (for the most part), looks dated

Phantasm has a lot going for it - a truly memorable villain (the eponymous Tall man), decent characters (with the best being the king of one liners - Ice cream salesman, Reggie Bannister - as himsel), great settings ( a mausoleum) and enough gore to satisfy gore hounds). In my opinion however, this adds to the enjoyment factor of the film and puts many (if not all) modern efforts to shame.
