PMS Can Be A Devil

Advantages: Disturbing, chilling atmosphere
Disadvantages: Not all it's cracked up to be; terrible special effects, some laughable bits

...beginning to drastically differ from the sweet young girl she once was. When doctors examine Regan they find that she turns violent and screams profanities at them which she has never done before. Doctors decide that a physiatrist may be the best option for Regan, but when all else fails Regan’s Mother is forced to turn to the church… I wasn’t around when The Exorcist was first released back in 1973 but have heard numerous things about the film ...
...to watch the film but have always been hesitant due to all the harrowing things I’ve heard about it. The film has been named ‘The Scariest Film Of All Time’… fitting? I still don’t know. I have heard about people committing suicide after seeing the film but curiosity got the better of me and surely 36 years after it’s initial release the film wouldn’t be able to achieve the same shock factor would it? That I can’t effectively answer, after seeing ...

'No, I am well, it is you who are dead!'

Advantages: hilarious - if you like black comedy, lots of Shakespeare, the inimitable Vincent Price
Disadvantages: very few

...the grand style of acting. Theatre of Blood was made at the same time that the National Theatre was being built (and a stage version was in fact performed at the National last year). Visually it's a very bleak film, and some people might find the Shakespeare, even in this context, heavy going, but it's definitely worth seeing. ...

"MIND THE DOORS!"

Advantages: Donald Pleasence at his best.
Disadvantages: It's alternative American title; 'Raw Meat' is abysmal

Donald Pleasance at his best. The creepy atmosphere of the London Underground is the perfect setting for an unrelenting excercise in graphic and gruesome horror, but with a great sense of humour. From the art direction to the acting, the whole thing feels very real. Some may find it rather too gruesome but other than that, there is nothing to fault this classic British horror! Death Line is a masterpiece of simplistic excess. The use of real-life ...
...a symphony of terror, horror and humour. I have nothing but praise for this film. Fantastic! THE FILM ‘Beneath modern London buried alive in its plague-ridden tunnels lives a tribe of once humans. Neither men nor women, they are less than animals… they are the raw meat of the human race!’ U.S. tagline for ‘Raw Meat’ A civil servant (James Cossins) returning home after a night on the tiles is attacked on a London Underground station. He is found ...

A Cult Classic, You''ll never forget!

Advantages: No Hollywood nonsense...
Disadvantages: Can leave you disturbed

...myself watching many films in the wee small hours. The "Wicker Man" is a film I picked up cheeply and had never got round to viewing. I would not normally watch what is considered a horror film on my own, but I did and was surprised I hadn't seen this "gem" before now. **The Basic Plot** Sargaent Howie, played by (Edward Woodward) is called from the Scottish Mainland to investigate the disappearance of "Rowan Morrison"" a teenage girl on a mysterious ...
...so comes into contact with the islanders as they prepare for the May Day Festival. Their blatant disregard for christianity is amplified by the ruined Christian Churches and graveyards and what he sees as their hedonistic sexual practices and worship of the Phallic Symbol. On investigation Howie starts to believe the young girl is not dead but being saved for sacrafice on May Day. His suspicions are aroused when he meets Lord SummerIsle (Christopher ...

A film made in Hell

Advantages: its only a film
Disadvantages: is it?

The Exorcist (Directors Cut). I'm pretty sure that by now, most people would have heard about the Exorcist film, either Film, Dvd, Video or just from memories of parents. The later of this summary is what I'm basing my review on. I was one of many who stood outside the cinema in the pouring rain, of the first showing of this movie, at our local cinema in the early 70's. I thought it was quite funny at the time to listen to; Priests and Nuns outside ...
...it more. Yes at the time it was truly horrifying, and left a real chill down the spine, every time I heard a bird in our loft after that I was convinced it was the devil looking for another possession. But time moved on, and 100's of Horror films later, it all seemed a distant memory, and then I came across this DVD, the Directors Cut, it had me intreaged, what would be different and would I notice any difference. My son who is nearly 17 asked ...
