Advantages: This is one of the best films that Cushing and Lee made together. A classic. Disadvantages: Some of the dubbed voices are a bit distracting.
...Ridley Scott's Alien there was Horror Express. The claustrophobic confines of a train in place of the Nostromo as the hunting ground for a killer of extra-terrestrial origin.
This Fantastically eerie gothic horror, with Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee at their British best, is only let down by some of the dubbed voices. This is a minor quibble (it was an anglo-spanish production after all!)

THE PRODUCTION
An anglo-spanish production filmed in sumptuous Eastmancolor, made by Benmar Productions and Granada Films in Madrid, December 1971. Entitled Panico en el Transiberiano (Panic on the Trans-Siberian Express) in Spain, it is more commonly known as Horror Express.
Bernard Gordon produced with Gene Martin directing. The screenplay was written by Arnaud D'Usseau and Julian Halevy, based on a story ...
Advantages: Very moving story of one man's fight against ecological destruction Disadvantages: Absolutely none
Starring: Bruce Dern as Freeman Lowell Cliff Potts as John Keenan Ron Rifkin as Marty Barke Jesse Vint as Andy Wolf This 1972 Science Fiction (not Horror, as Ciao have so strangely categorised it!) movie is set in the not too distant future. If that phrase ‘in the not too distant future’ has a ring to it for those of you who are Mystery Science Theater 3000 fans, read on: this film tells the story of a sorta hippieish-acting man in a blue jumpsuit ... ...only two small robots for company. Sound disturbingly familiar? This is the film credited by MST3K creator Joel Hodgson as being his major influence on the look and feel of that show. The film doesn’t start with Freeman Lowell alone on the satellite – to begin with he is part of a maintenance crew consisting of four men and three small maintenance robots called Huey, Dewy and Louie. The circumstances of how he ends up alone with two robots, I’ll ...
Advantages: It's only and hour and 26 minutes long Disadvantages: It's anhour and 26 minutes too long...
...cake (many shots of the Frogs are used over and over again and sometimes reversed to make you think they aren't the same shots you've seen five times already), but it is snakes and lizards and alligators that do all the killing. Which in some cases are so laughably idiotic. Much like the rest of the film.
I thought it would at best be a laugh but its not. It takes itself far too seriously. I can't believe that anyone involved in making this tripe ... ...as thre are no giant frogs inthis (that would have been a better idea!) and no miniature people. I can imagine people lining up in 1972 to see this at the cinema and expecting giant killer frogs. They must have felt so so cheated...
A sorry sorry unentertaining mess.
Actually the one redeeming feature of the entire thing is the eerie electronic soundtrack. I'd gladly purchase that but the film I could happily avoid. ...

Review of Frogs (DVD)
Advantages: Lee and Cushing back together again as Dracula and Van Helsing Disadvantages: Some of the clothes are a bit naff.
...Hammer decied to update the Dracula franchise this was the result. Dracula AD 1972 is often refered to as one of the worst Dracula's that Hammer made. Feeling they needed to inject some life into the undead Count Hammer they resurrected him in a modern day setting.
However I have much praise for this film. Its a vast improvement on Scars of Dracula which preceeded it (although that did have Patrick Troughton in and the famous climbing down the wall ... ...set one of their 1970's Dracula films in the late 1930's. Dracula AD 1972 probably felt very dated very quickly even 10 years after it was made. But now it can be viewed as a piece of retro hookum with a hell of a lot of 1970's style.
The opening sequence with Cushing and Lee battling it out as Van Helsing and Dracula for the first time in about 15 years is brilliant. And Dracula's death scene in this sequence is ingenius. Fast-forward 100 years ...
Advantages: Funny in a scary way Disadvantages: Scary in a funny way
I recently purchased this film after remembering how zany it was when i first saw it years ago. Its a mad, badly made Zombie movie which incidentally has become a cult classic. Some college kids arrive on an island off New York where there happens to be an old creepy cemetary. All of a sudden Zombies are scrambling for their blood. A bit scary when folk start to get killed off, however this is a fil that is very diffcult to take seriously. It comes ... ...manages to capture how scary this type of scenario could be. There's a cracking scene where one of the characters gets a scare from a Zombie and he runs around shouting "I peed my pant.... i peed my pants"...quite funny and very watchable, once only though. I wouldn't buy unless it was less than £3.00 ...
