littlt shop of horrors

Advantages: a good fiolm for the whole family.
Disadvantages: its abit old nowadays

Delightful film version of the Off Broadway triumph based on the Roger Corman black comedy, carried off beautifully here by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken's memorable tunes. The plot of the film is A nerdish florist finds his chance for success and romance with the help of a giant man-eating plant who demands to be fed.The plant seems to have a craving for blood and soon begins to sing for his supper (the voice of Levi Stubbs). Soon enough, Seymour ...
...and later, Mushnik for witnessing the death of Audrey's ex. a great family film

Advantages: funny and a must-see
Disadvantages: may not be suitable for younger children

...and although I do enjoy the Rick Moranis remake, I do adore this version. Steve Martin is brilliant in the newer one, but Jack Nicholson rivals him for comedy performance in the original. Behind the comedic plot of a giant-talking-man-eating plant that needs more meat as it grows bigger and bigger, the story is rather sad, as poor Seymour tries his best to satisy Audrey ll (the plant) and the girl of his dreams Audrey. A few laughs are definate with ...

It's curtains for the House of Usher

Advantages: Good scary fun. Vincent Price!
Disadvantages: Not available in high street shops

...Allan Poe's "The Fall of the House of Usher". He plays Roderick Usher, who lives with his sister Madeleine (Myrna Fahey) in an ancient crumbling house, which has belonged to their family for generations. One day, Madeleine's boyfriend Philip (Mark Damon) turns up at the house and Rodney is less than welcoming to him. The film is set at no particular time in history but it's probably 16th century. We find out that Rodney believes the Usher family ...
...one Usher child, all of the siblings have gone insane and died horrible deaths. As the days wear on, the effects of the curse reach a frightening climax. The film is heavily padded compared to the short story of the same name and the characters are rather different. The character of Roderick Usher is a little more sinister in this, whereas in the book, he is clearly unwell and he buries his sister by accident, a mistake which tortures him. I think ...

Great collection of Roger Corman films

Advantages: 3 great films for a budget price
Disadvantages: Picture quality not too good

The films on the 3 discs are a selection of Roger Corman productions between 1960 and 1963. Little Shop Of Horrors from 1960 is first up.A young Jack Nicholson makes an early screen appearence. A dimwitted florists assistant discovers a mutant plant that can talk and must feed on blood to survive. The Terror from 1963 stars Boris Karloff and Jack Nicholson (again).Nicholson follows an apparition to a castle where he finds Karloff and discovers ...
...the directorial debut of Francis Ford Coppola.Family member are being bumped off by an axe murderer. Are the murders linked to the daughters death years ago? The three films are all entertaining and the packaging is nice but it would have been better if the films remastered.Overall though its good value for money. ...

little shop of horrors - the original version

Advantages: brilliant
Disadvantages: black and white

...original version is by far the best - the actors are a lot better than the later version - you have;- Jonathan Haze, Jackie Joseph, Mel Welles, Dick Miller, Myrtle Vail this version is in black and white which for some reason makes it scarier than the updated version. The basic plot is that a nerdy florist called seymour falls in love with audrey and names one of his plants (a venus flytrap) after her - he spends most of his day tending to the ...
