A Daughter of Horror Hits Skid Row
Advantages: Surreal, weird fantasy; a fascinating one-off Disadvantages: May be too weird for some
Starring: Adrienne Barrett as The Gamine Bruno VeSota as Rich Man Ben Roseman as Gamine's Father / Plainclothes Cop Richard Barron as Evil One This is one weird film - probably one of the, if not THE, very weirdest you'll ever see. Although classified on Ciao as 'Horror', it really is a one-off that defies categorisation. The film consists of a series of frightening experiences a young woman encounters during one night in a bad part of a big city, after she wakes up in a cheap hotel room. There is no dialogue in the movie, just a brilliant soundtrack consisting of cool 1950s jazz, avant-garde orchestral music, and the voice of ...

Classic Soap Opera
Advantages: Brilliant Special effects and intelligent story Disadvantages: Pedestrian acting by leads

Exeter Faith Domergue ... Dr. Ruth Adams Rex Reason ... Dr. Cal Meacham Lance Fuller ... Brack Russell Johnson ... Steve Carlson Douglas Spencer ... The Monitor of Metaluna Robert Nichols ... Joe Wilson Karl Ludwig Lindt ... Dr. Adolph Engelborg Director: Joseph ... ...Uncharacteristically for many films of this period the relationship between the aliens and humanity is more complex than at first expected. The aliens do not serve as simple ciphers for the communist threat or the dangers of foreign ideology. There are grey areas and the aliens have many redeeming qualities. If one is looking for a moral undertone to the film it is about the futility of war and the dangers of unchecked technological development. ...

I wasn’t around when The Exorcist was first released back in 1973 but have heard numerous things about the film ... ...to watch the film but have always been hesitant due to all the harrowing things I’ve heard about it. The film has been named ‘The Scariest Film Of All Time’… fitting? I still don’t know. I have heard about people committing suicide after seeing the film but curiosity got the better of me and surely 36 years after it’s initial release the film wouldn’t be able to achieve the same shock factor would it?
