Even in my adulthood, I am more than happy to watch the film again, and when I was a kid I use to remember watching this film a hundred times during the Christmas holidays and summer holidays. It was such a feel good family fun film; it was the sort of film that even if you?ve watched it once you would never gets bored watching it over and over again.
Plot:
The film opens with the entire McCallister family packing for their Christmas vacation to France. The family is exceptionally big, some 30 plus including adults. Advantages: Some comedy, nice message. Disadvantages: Cheesy story, not the best acting.
...So I'm sat in my room bored and decide to have a browse through my DVD collection, which includes a bunch of cheap two on one disc movie sets which came with my DVD player. I come across one after reading a few blurbs, about a former football hero who is forced into community service at a children's home. The homes administrator Karen is desperate to find an outlet for the kid's undoubted energy and tries to persuade Butler to coach a team; but he rejects the idea.
The tale of this group of misfits starts when they enter the football league anyway with no strip, no sponsors and no coach and find themselves on a loosing streak, yet through all this they manage to show team spirit and each defeat strengthens the bond between them; doesn't that just sound adorable?
And so it begins with an unmemorable line as he enters the "rat trap...

Advantages: Funny, Brilliant Performance From Reese, Visually A Treat Disadvantages: Formulaic, By The Numbers, Nothing New To Offer
..., funny and nice watch. Reese Witherspoon is stunning, and it?s a treat for the eyes, but don?t watch it expecting it to be a statement of our time, it to change your opinions or beliefs or be controversial, because it?s all just one big gooey mess, that is a good watch. Aimee, I have to say liked it A LOT more than me, so maybe I am just a cynical, old grouch.
Financially it was more than a sound financial investment. It only cost 30 million to make, but worldwide it gathered the grand total of 181 million making it 9th most successful romantic comedy ever and the biggest Rom Com of 2002 beating Two weeks Notice and Maid In Manhattan.
