...hate the most.
HOWEVER, Home Alone by John Hughes is a brilliant film, even if it was badly stretched out across two very similar sequels, and even the despicable Macaulay was halfway tolerable in this film.
Kevin is the youngest child within a pretty massive American family who are going away for the Christmas hols. He behaves badly on the night before they travel and is sent to the attic room. In the confusion next morning he is forgotten and ... ...yes, and Mummy makes it home in time for Xmas.
It sound quite naff when summarised like this, but it ain't when you see it. It takes a fiendish mind to dream up all the defensive tricks that Kevin uses and they're genuinely funny. Kids love this film and adults appreciate the nastiness dealt out.
Watch it and enjoy pain.
Slapstick mayhem with kids inflicting the ultimate retribution on les adults is always good for half an hour and the bad guys ...

Back in 1990 no one had really heard of Macaulay Culkin, and then Home Alone was released and suddenly this young kid was the hottest property in Hollywood. The film focuses on young Kevin as he ... ...Conclusion & Rating

Home Alone is undoubtedly one of the most profitable and popular movies of all time (currently sitting 36th in the most profitable charts. It's got nothing to do with amazing plots, special effects or Oscar winning performances. It's purely down to it being a very enjoyable and light hearted film, which appeals to a wider audience than what it was intended for. Even now in my 30s, I still enjoy watching Home ...

And at the same time, the robbers are confused and trying to work out why the joint they were casing doesn't appear to be empty - but it doesn't take them long to realise that Kevin is home alone and they plan to take advantage of this - after all, they reason, how can a little boy all on his own stop them? However, Kevin (who is already beginning ... ...enterprising little boy and is determined they're not going to break in easily if he can help it.
The undisputed star of "Home Alone" is Macaulay Culkin, who shot to fame as a result of this film. Considering there are big chunks of the movie where he is the only person on screen, he is likeable and entertaining enough to keep you watching. Culkin, as a kid, had something about him, some kind of weird childlike charisma and an infectious "fun" air ...

...this all changes when his home is about to be robbed by two rather stupid looking burglars…Harry, (played by Joe Pesci) and Marv, (played by Daniel Stern) are known as 'the Wet Bandits'

...evil cynical reasons. You see, Home Alone to me is the most misunderstood movie out there. The central theme is basically child abuse, Kevin being hideously treated by his negligent parents and at Christmas at all times as they leave him to his own devices whilst they themselves go off to enjoy a holiday without him. Such despicable behaviour precedes the infliction of half an hour of extreme violence and torture upon a couple of burglars by the ... ...which means of course that Home Alone gains itself a release by Disney of all people and a PG rating by the board of censors...hahahaha!!! Advantages: kids might enjoy it Disadvantages: boring, repetition of the previous films
...If it wasn't a HomeAlone film it would be okay but, dislike him you may, there is no substitute for McCauly Caulkin's cheeky little face and the avid persistance of Joe Pesci.
The kid left alone theme wears a little bit thin but the children like it.
Personally, I find there is something endearing about HomeAlone 1 and 2 but, sorry, this film just does nothing for me.The story seems to be exactly the same as the first one,and the gags repeat themselves. The tricks that the boy uses to fight the baddies are the same that Caulkin has used years and years ago.And now somehow they don't look funny any more.
I doubt I would ever want to watch HomeAlone 4 should they ever make one....

Advantages: first two were good Disadvantages: not as appealing as the others
...HomeAlone 3 is an okay family movie, but it's not the same as HomeAlone 1 & 2 were. First of all when you bring in a new lead actor in the 3rd film, it's not gonna be the same type of movie, because the kid is different and most importantly the bad guys are different. I mean how dumb do these bad guys have to be when they chase a remote control car and they can't catch up to it. At least in HomeAlone 1 & 2 the plans were more believeable and fun to watch. If you are planning on buying this film, please don't as there are alot of films that are better than this....

Advantages: the ending Disadvantages: almost the whole film
...A boy goes to live with his Dad and Girlfriend's house. This is a prime opportunity for the baddies to attack the house.
This film however, is a new version of the old HomeAlone's, and the director and writer is obviously trying too hard to make it seem the same as the 1st two films.
I really didn't enjoy this film because firstly, the baddies 'Marv' played by Michael Weinberg and his sidekick Missi Pyle are not funny actors, and they can't act or react in a comical way.
Secondly, due to the gadgets and other gifts that the Dad's girlfriend has given to the boy wouldn't normally be found in a house, and the reacts of the parents is taken to extreme.
Overall, this film is trying too hard to be something that it can never be ... funny. It has 'TRY HARD' written all over it, and as a 'funny family film' I think I laughed once. Small...
