I had my doubts when I first saw Home Alone 3, first it had been about 5 years since the last home alone had been released, and second it did not have any of the original cast. I thought it would probably be a cheap knock off to make more money. But I found out quickly that I was wrong and that it was the best one yet.
The reason I like this is the characters are a lot better. The parents and the rest of the family aren't complete idiots like Kevin’s, come on you have to be pretty stupid parents to leave your kid at home on a family vacation. And Kevin just had two bumbling burglars to smite, While Alex has four villains to smack down and they are after more then his VCR. Also his parents are the typical modern day parents who are to busy with there jobs to stay home with him while he has the chicken pox.
The story goes like this terrorists have stolen a top-secret microchip, If install on a missile it will be undetectable to any anti-missile defense. The terrorists hide it in a place where no one would think of looking for it, in a kid’s RC cars. When a bag mix up at the air-port it winds up in the hands of little Alex Pruitt who happens to be home with the chicken pox.
The Crooks have trace the chip to his neighborhood but don’t know which house it is in so they begin a frantic search of the neighborhood breaking into house after house in the middle of the day.
Alex being about the only one home in the neighborhood during the day catches them but seeing how the villains are so good at being thieves and seeing how they leave everything untouched nobody believes Alex. When Alex finds the chip in the remote control car he knows that’s what the crooks are after. Meanwhile the 4 terrorist have track down the chip to his house and already have plans on searching the house. Luckily Alex knows this and why his parents and gone to work he is going to be busy building booby traps that put Kevin Macallsters traps to shame.
Alex has his work cut out for him with 4 bad guys planing on breaking into his house, he is going to have to create 4 times the mayhem, Which means 4 times the laughs for you.
This is the best home alone yet, not only is it funnier it also has better characters in it to. I suggest that you at least rent this one.
Macaulay Culkin isn't in this one but it is still good though. Myself and my kids enjoyed this last one in this trio.
