Over the years in the world of comedy double ups have brought us some bone tickling and suspense moments leaving us begging for more. The likes of martin Lawrence and will smith sparkle together like a pair of diamonds on a beach sunbathing. So when I heard about this latest film, Hollywood Homicide and seeing previews about it I was curious to get a taste of the action.
Harrison Ford stars as Joe Gavilan, a well known detective who cannot capture the same success in his personal life as he does at work. There are 3 ex-wives in Joe's life and he is well and truly stuck with a particularly bad investment in a large house that he intended to sell as part of his side real estate business. His partner, K.C. Calden (Josh Hartnett), is a rookie with a really bad aim. He has huge doubts about his career as a cop and fears he has chosen the wrong road to go down as he feels he has somewhere to go with an acting career.
Joe and K.C., of course, become involved in a high-profile murder investigation involving the unfortunately named rap group H2O Klick. During the course of the investigation, the audience is `treated' to more and more glimpses of Joe and
K.C.'s personal lives. Every buddy cop cliché rears its ugly little head during the film as the search moves at an agonizingly slow pace. For good measure, a thin internal investigation on Joe's investment practices is thrown in.
* Wake me up when something exciting happens(yawn)*
Hollywood Homicide is a cinematic misfire of epic and historical proportions. When the movie is obviously trying to be clever, no one is laughing because the jokes fall flat. The scenes were seriously jumbled and you couldn’t really get into the plot at times because it was so sloppy. There is only one amusing sequences that has Joe and K.C. being interrogated separately. They both do their best not to answer any questions thrown at them with amusing consequences.

Exciting extra’s
During making this film there was a little extra incident that occurred with the stars of the film. Josh Hartnett crashed his car into a barrier with Harisson Ford in the passenger seat. They were slightly shaken but nothing serious.
Actual opinion of the film
When I heard about Harrison ford and Josh Hartnett starring as a duo in this film I didn’t hold much hope. Although they are both very good actors, Harrison Ford is more known for his action films. Josh Hartnett is more comedy so when it comes to being serious he just seemed a bit gormless which I bet wasn’t in the script and he seemed like a lost part for most of the film. I feel although it was a gallant effort by Hartnett I feel he has a whole lot more to learn in order to be a star like Harrison Ford. The limelight was stolen by ford all throughout so that was a benefactor in why it didn’t work for Hartnett in this film. You sort of feel for him but all you can suggest to the poor fellow is to learn from this experience and make sure you use it to your advantage.
There were moments of comedy genius but comparing to it to some of the classic films like bad boys it just isn’t in the same league. The fact that this type of thing had been done so many times before it needed to be something different or offer something with a bit more charisma. Although the film wasn’t bad overall I feel it was a dire cause .The action scenes were few and far between and there was more comedy than action but a lot of the humour was just not funny. It takes a long time to get going and when it gets anywhere it leaves you slightly confused and disappointed.
The film is still watchable - it would be harsh to call it awful, it's just all fairly nondescript and boring. The action scenes are OK but that they come after so much dross takes away their impact, that and the fact that I didn't care about the plot by this point. It's not funny, it's not dramatic and it's not thrilling - in fact it's all a bit dull. I'm not sure what the film was trying to do, but trust me, it didn't do it.
Thanks for reading.
