Well, this is a short insight into the History of the people, Aircraft and expolits of the R.A.F.
With the outbreak of the Great War in 1914 it was soon realised that Air Power would play an important and desicive part in Conflicts .
From the Start of the Service with the Royal Flying Corps in 1914 to the Development of the Royal Air force up to the Modern Aircraft and Systems of Today (Well, up to when the Panavia Tornado was new and the Eurofighter wasn't even conceived) , This DVD will try to take you through it all.
After a Brief introduction the DVD will take you through things like the speeds of Technology , The Aircraft, things like Germanys' covert Air Force as after WWI they were banned from developing Combat Aircraft by Treaty, The conception and introduction of Radar ( A British invention) to Air Support for the Troops on the Beach at Dunkirk.
Then you'll be thrown into the Battle of Britain where our Pilots needed to kill 10 Enemy pilots for every 1 of ours. Impossible odds but as we know so well, the Pilots, Support Staff and everyone associated with our Military Machine endured great loss, sorrow and hardships and succeeded in the face of overwhelming odds.
You also see the Value of Women in important roles such as Ferry Pilots and WAAF (Womens Auxillary Air Force) on the airfields and in Control Rooms.
Then we go to see a new generation of fighter Aces And the Role of the R.A.F in the defeat of Rommels Africa Corps which had cut an impressive swathe of victories in Africa.
We then go to Modern Times and the Role of the R.A.F. as Americas Biggest Ally in NATO (The North Atlantic Treaty Organisation) which was created to Combat the might of Russia and now keeps the peace (tries to) across the world.
You see Footage of WWI Fighter/Bombers like the Sopwith Camel to the WWII Supermarine Spitfire, Hawker Hurricane, Avro Lancaster and even the Vickers Wellington.
Then you see the the Hawker Hunter, McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom ( A truly inspiring plane at Airshows), The Vickers Vallient, Avro Vulcan and the Victor. Then you see the Panavia Tornado.
A Great DVD for the short history of an Amazing Fightning Force.
