A narrow dog on a narrow boat!

Advantages: Cracking good read!
Disadvantages: The book ended...i wanted more!

Review of 'Narrow Dog to Carcasonne' by Terry Darlington. I was loaned this book by one of my marina mooring neighbours. We live part of the year on a narrow boat and love the life, I enjoy boating and all that it entails and when at home occasionally watch 'Water World' on Discovery channel. This book 'Narrow Dog to Carcasonne' has been featured on the programme and serialised for television. In spite of enjoying the television look into the adventures of Terry Darlington, Monica and Jim's adventures, I'd never got round to reading the book, until Jean passed it on. I am reviewing the paperback version of the book. It contains 329 pages, was published by Bantam Books, the ISBN is 0553816691 and the size of the book is 19.8 x 12.6 x 3 cm. Narrow Dog to Carcassonne was published in 2005.  It became a top ten best seller and has ...

NARROW MARGIN

Advantages: FAST COMPELLING ACTION, GENE HACKMAN
Disadvantages: SPECIAL EFFECTS

A few weeks ago my Aunt (a very nice woman) gave me a copy of Narrow Margin DVD, which was free with the Daily Mail. I had not heard of this film before but was pleased to see that Gene Hackman was in it so I thought I would give it a go in the machine and I must say I'm glad I did. NARROW MARGIN DVD Narrow Margin (1990) is basically about Carol Hunnicut (Anne Archer) who witnesses a mob killing of her blind date and goes on the run, hiding in a remote part of Canada. L.A. District Attorney Robert Caulfield (Gene Hackman) is informed of her whereabouts by a close friend who then tracks her down to testify but it's not to long before the Mob (bad guys) find out where she is too. Both the cop and the witness are chased through the Canadian Rockies, where their only hope is to take refuge on a claustrophobic Vancouver-bound train ...

Poetry in The Narrows

Advantages: A brilliant chilling thriller, a must read
Disadvantages: Ending just seemed a little forced

THE NARROWS MICHAEL CONNELLY INTRODUCTION Book sequels are notoriously difficult. It seems very hard to produce one successfully without falling into the rehashed old plot twists and warmed-over characters that usually cumulates in a paler version of the first book. ?The Narrows?, however, has not fallen into these traps it is a great ending to the dark world of lurking evil glimpsed in its forerunner, ?The Poet?. The Poet was Connelly?s evil creation-- a shadowy cop killer notorious for staging false suicides and leaving a sombre line from the poetry of Edgar Allen Poe at the scene, scrawled by the forced victim as a farewell note. ?The Narrows? is from Michael Connelly (former police reporter for the Los Angeles Times). It is his 14th novel and features Harry Bosch and FBI agent Rachel Walling ...
