A time to Kill

Advantages: read opp
Disadvantages: none

This review is on the 1996 feature film a time to Kill, adapted from John Grisham's 1989 novel of the same name. Ill be honest like most people I actually didn't no the film was based on a book, however after watching the film I kind of felt obliged to read the book to see if it was any better than the film. I must applaud the book and the film because they both do justice to one another, they took such a relevant and strong topic and made their viewers and readers feel the emotion the characters in the film felt. Now ive said a dozen times I have many films that I really consider to be in my list of all time greats and this one really should be included. It's a film that makes you think and act, its not action and its certainly not comedy, but if you really want a perspective of what Mississippi was like during the racial times ...

Hard To Kill Film Review

Advantages: It's hilarious!
Disadvantages: It's very, very cheesy!

Steven Seagal is off to take the Senator to the bank... the blood bank *DUM DUM DUMDUMDUM*. After hired assassins left in him in a coma for seven years, he's fighting fit and ready to avenge the death of his family. Viewers, you better be drunk and/or free from snobbery, otherwise you needn't bother watching. As far as cheesy movies that entertain go, Hard To Kill is in the Premier Division, chasing the league championship with the likes of Commando, Cobra and Road House. But as far as decent movies go, it's definitely non-league. It's bad, in all semantics of the word. Seagal stars as police officer Mason Storm (how's that for an action hero name?). He gets shot by the mob after uncovering some dirty information about the city's Senator (William Sadler, Die Hard 2). Caught up in the mess, also, are his family: his wife is killed ...

Drink-driving kills

Advantages: Good performances, interesting story
Disadvantages: Nothing special about it

Please note: I am reviewing the 1984 film about a drink-driving case and not Licence (with a c) To Kill, the James Bond one! Lynne Peterson is a talented teenager; having done brilliantly at school, she is about to go away to college. Then one day her life is tragically ended following a car accident caused by a drunk driver. Her parents and sister are devastated; her mother goes to bed and refuses to get up and her father copes by trying to find out as much about the case as possible. But after many stops and starts, the court case seems doomed to failure and it seems that the driver will get off scot-free. Can lawyer Martin Sawyer ensure that justice is done? James Farentino plays Mr Peterson and, on the whole, does a quality job. Losing a child is one of the most difficult things a parent can face, and Farentino is certainly ...
