Personally I think this is the best film that has been released in a long time. I'm not much of a fan of musicals but this was brought for me by my boyfriend so thought I'd best watch it, so since 25th December 2006 I have watched this film god knows how many times and know the film word for word song for song. Sad I know but it is a well good film.
THE PLOT
Troy and Gabriella (main characters) are both on holiday at a ski resort. Your given a short introduction to these two characters at the beginning, you find out Troy loves Basketball and Gabriella loves books. Anyway they end up singing at karaoke together and that's when the magic starts.
Gabriella ends up moving to Troy's school and they end up in the same class together. To cut the story short they end up staring in a musical but it aint that simple there are of course obstacles that get in the way of their dream.
There are of course bad people which take the form of Sharpay and Ryan Evans, brother and sister who try out for the leads of the musical and are there competition.
The main story is Troy, the popular captain of the basketball team and Gabriella, the brainy and beautiful member of the academic club, break all rules of East High Society when they secretly audition for the leads in the school musical. As they reach for the stars and follow there dreams, everyone learns about acceptance, teamwork and being yourself. It's all set to fun tunes and very cool dance moves.
OTHER
This film is rated as a U and is meant to be for the younger members of the family but it's a good movie for the whole family. The storyline flows and the film is entertaining but not confusing, the scenes are great and colourful which keeps young children interested.
With it being a musical there are loads of songs to show the current emotions of the characters. From "Breaking Free" to "Get cha head in da game". My favourite song of the film is "Stick to the status quo", the scene unfolds in the school cafeteria and it shows how each group has an individual who wants to do something completely different to what there labelled as.
The other thing I really like about this film is the fact it has a hidden message for children about them being able to be who they want to be not what other people want them to be which is good.
