"High Heels and Low Lifes", starring Minnie Driver and Mary McCormack, is about two women (funnily enough!) who overhear a walkie-talkie conversation between some bank robbers during a heist in a local bank.
They go to the police, but owing to the near-riot at the station, their somewhat flimsy report isn't given much attention, so they decide to take matters into their own hands, and blackmail the robbers. However things go slightly wrong when the robbers decide they will try to "take out" these people who have somehow found out about their scheme, and are holding them to ransom.
On the surface, this film sounds like it would be a good action film, but it would be terribly unfair to write a review of it without mentioning some of the hilariously funny moments in the film, which had me rolling about laughing (although the people next to me in the cinema might not have agreed that it was quite as funny!) I won't spoil any of the jokes, but trust me, you will have tears running down your face as you try not to laugh at some bits.
I was lucky enough to go to a special advance preview of this film, and since it has only just been released, I'm not too sure what the general reaction to the film is, but I would have to give it a good rating. It's set in Britain (which is always good!), the story is fairly believable (with some cinematic license), and at times it is absolutely hilarious. The action scenes are fairly frequent, although if non-stop explosions are your thing, you might be in for a disappoinment. Still, overall the film has a good balance of comedy, action, and general drama, and should suit most tastes. In fact the only annoying thing about this film is the fact that the title isn't spelt right ("lifes" instead of "lives"), but I think we can forgive that!
I highly recommend going to see it.

One thing I meant to write in my review, but which didn't really seem to fit in, was that all the publicity for the film (well the posters anyway!) don't really have much to do with the film! Which is quite odd...
